La Maison de l'Eléphant perché

This is a quirky house with some lovely art work. The location is excellent - literally a 2 minute walk and you're in the historic centre of Amboise. There's a lovely balcony off the lounge room and free parking right at the front of the house was easy (we were there in early July). The kitchen is small but very well equipped. There are two shower rooms - one off the main bedroom on the main floor and the other on the floor above, serving the other two bedrooms. Then there are two separate toilets - one on the main floor and the other on the floor above. The main living area is well ventilated in warmer weather if the windows and doors are open.

The air conditioning is provided by a portable air conditioner situated in the office area. In hot weather it is entirely insufficient to cool anything not the office area - the bedrooms and main living area do not benefit. One of the bedrooms on the upper level is opposite the shower room and has no door, thus it lacks privacy and ventilation.

This is a really lovely apartment in a terrific location. There was plenty of room for everyone. Everything was very clean and things were thoughtfully laid out and ready for us.

We happened to visit during a terrible heat wave in May. The apartment did not cool down very well. There were fans and a single room air conditioner, which helped a lot. But it is an older building and the windows are smaller. However, this heat wave was very unusual and I absolutely do not fault the owner. I just wanted to make that info available in case it helps the next visitor.

Very happy with our stay. So close to the village centre, yet quiet and well appointed.

Het is een bijzonder huis qua bouw en mooi ingericht. Schoon en de keuken zeer volledig. De plek is fantastisch vooral het uitzicht op de brug en de zonsondergang. Ruimte en rust. Locatie centraal gelegen.Het kasteel in je achtertuin.

Parkeren is lastig, er zijn genoeg plekken maar het is ook druk. Voor de deur was het onmogelijk voor ons. Maar wat verder lopen en einde dag kan je verplaatsen. Communicatie vooraf was beter dan tijdens het verblijf
