A beautiful, comfortable well equipped cottage in an amazing location. Rams Cottage is perfectly located for exploring the area around Glenelg and Arnisdale, with the Isle of Skye just a short ferry crossing away. A wonderful peaceful place to stay and be surrounded by wildlife and stunning scenery. Good for the Soul. At least one trip on the turntable ferry is a must, and the friendly Glenelg Inn is well worth a visit. All within easy walking distance from the digs. We will definitely return to Rams Cottage.

A beautifully located cottage with all amenities you could wish for except mobile and wifi reception which won't bother you if, like us, you want a total escape. Short walk to the Glenelg Inn which serves lovely food and had locally brewed beer. Fantastic views all around and a nice place to sit and each lunch while watching the local wildlife. The Cottage is much better than shown on the pictures. The location of the Cottage and the view is absolutely fabolous. It is such a peaceful environment and the Inn in the village serves extraordinary good food. Kind of a secret spot. The lack of no internet and mobile phone connection is an extra point for absolute relaxation. Would definitely go back again.

The location of this house cannot be faulted - it is superb. From April the ferry to Skye works every 20 minutes and the petrol is a lot cheaper there. There is an otter conservation area near the ferry and a resident sea eagle. Also expect a visit by a Pine Martin in the late evening. Out of season you have to drive over the mountains to get anywhere. The house reminded me of living in a museum. There is a VHS player from about 20 years ago and hand sets for equipment that does not exist. I only managed to get one TV channel and that was by accident. The DVD player did not work, which I reported and a new one was installed the very next day but without a hand control unit. There is no Wi-Fi unless you want to walk to the end of the garden to get 4G from Skye. So, you cannot stream any music to your phone let alone stream films. If you want a get away from everything holiday this would be a good spot to go to. The kitchen equipment was pretty basic and lacked a casserole dish. Loads of wine glasses but no beer glasses. The knives were blunt also and one lamp in the bedroom never worked. The furnishings were comfortable and it was so warm that I had to turn down the thermostats on the radiators. The nearest Co-op supermarket / cheap petrol station is on Skye. Others over the mountains are very expensive. The house book does not contain any information about local doctors / dentists / supermarkets, which I found surprising. It did have lots of information on walks in the area and logs for the wildlife. Basically if you fell ill you would have to ring for a doctor from the end of the garden because there is no landline to the house either. You would also have to use your mobile internet connection from the end of the garden to find out where the doctor was. The owners are lovely people and very helpful when issues are raised with them. They are crofters and I got the impression that renting out holiday homes was not fully understood by them. I suppose when you live in that sort of location the modern world leaves you behind. This could be a fantastic holiday home if its kitchen was upgraded, a landline was fitted and Wi-Fi installed. Charging points for plug-in hybrid vehicles would be the icing on the cake. Until that happens I suspect bookings will suffer.

We had a great stay at Rams Cottage. The area is peaceful with a wide variety of birds, animals and walks all around. The cottage itself was very cosy and warm and generally well stocked. The local pub is truly excellent. I would, and hopefully will, go back here!

Although the cottage was comfortable, in the read up it said it had a wood burner which was one of the reasons we booked it . But there was no wood burner in the cottage at all, so we were very disappointed . The cottage, as with all the cottages we have stayed in on Skye and up the west coast of Scotland are very dated i,m afraid. Saying that this cottage is in a stunning position and i would recommend staying there.
