About this apartment rental

Blair Street is a superbly located apartment only 50 metres from the intersection of the famous Royal Mile and the North & South Bridge (see map). This 2 bedroom, ground floor apartment is a fantastic base to explore the amazing city of Edinburgh. It is owned by Barry Furlong (The Principle) and managed by Edinburgh SC (Self Catering) Ltd on his behalf. A plethora of Edinburgh attractions are only minutes walk, such as the Royal Scottish Museum and St Giles Cathedral. There is also an abundance of bars, restaurants and cafe’s in the immediate area. This self-catering apartment is furnished and decorated to a high standard to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Guests who have a laptop can also enjoy a free broadband connection either through the supplied cable or by wifi. This property shares a a private vestibule area with the Blair St Scott apartment next door and is therefore an excellent choice for larger groups or families who want to be close to each other.

LOUNGE/KITCHEN

This comfortable room combines a lounge and kitchen area that provides a wonderful place for you to relax when you are not out and about the city. The room consists of a sofa, two arm chairs. A smart tv is also in the room. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, electric oven & hob, microwave oven, washer/dryer and cutlery & crockery for up to four people.

BEDROOMS

Both bedrooms are at the rear of the property and are also secondary glazed to ensure a good night's sleep. One has a standard double bed but the other has a kingsize zip'n'link that can be split into twins, you must select this option during the booking process if required. One of the bedrooms has a built in wardrobe the other a freestanding unit provide ample storage space for your possessions.

BATHROOM

The bathroom also has an instant electric shower as well as a bath.

* A modest amount of complimentary tea and coffee for arrival
* Ironing facilities and a hair dryer are provided.
* Street parking is available but is expensive, various longer term parking solutions can be given.
* The airport bus drop off point and main railway station are 5 minutes walk.

Restrictions

* No smoking is allowed within the apartment.
* No pets.
* Although on the first floor, there are a small number of stair to negotiate and therefore may be unsuitable for some people with disabilities.
* No lift is available.
* Strictly no parties - Guests must be quiet between 21:00 and 08:00 to respect neighbouring properties.

Access Arrangements

A "meet and greet" service is operated , whereby you will be met at a property at a pre-arranged time to give access. Full instructions of this procedure can be found in the secure guest area after a booking has been completed. It is very important that an approximate arrival time is provided before arrival for this process. Entry is from 14:00 onwards but if nobody has booked to depart on your day of arrival it will probably be very suitable for us to give you entry as early as possible. Departure is by 10am (a guaranteed late departure up to 20:00 can be obtained for 50% of that daily rate. Please contact us if you want to utilise this facility and a price will be calculated).

Please note that arrivals after 19:00 will incur a range of late arrival fee.

**LATE ARRIVAL: fees, 19:00 - 22:30 - 15 pounds, 22:31 - 00:00 - 30 pounds and 00:01 - 02:00 - 50 pounds. The latest access can be given is 02:00, otherwise it is given at 08:00 the next day. ESC accept no liability for any costs involved in alternative accommodation for this 6 hour period.


A deposit of 25% is payable on booking and the outstanding balance of the rental price must be received 2 months prior to your arrival date. For bookings made less than eight weeks before your arrival date the whole rental price falls payable at the time of booking. Please note that a separate 200 pounds refundable key/security deposit must be provided prior to arrival. This is rescinded 2 days after departure.

Cancellation
In the event of cancellation the following terms and charges will apply -
a. 6 months or more prior to arrival – full refund minus a 5% admin fee of the total booking amount with a £50 minimum.
b. 42 days or more – 25% of the total booking fee.
c. 41 days or less – full rental fee.

These cancellation terms DO NOT apply to any bookings made under specific "Non refundable" offers on any OTA's such as booking.com, Airbnb, VRBO .

Please consider obtaining personnel holiday insurance to cover this and other potential losses.

Getting there

There are three options to get from Edinburgh airport to the city centre, all take approx 30-35 minutes. The main rail station Waverley is approx 250 metres from the apt.

1. Edinburgh trams, approx every 8-10 mins (Sunday 12-15 mins), right outside terminal, the nearest drop off point for the apt are the Princes St and St Andrew Sq stops both are approx 800 metres away. Cost s approx 9.50 pounds for adults and 5.00 pounds for children for a RETURN journey.

2. Airport express bus, every 15 minutes right outside terminal building, drop off point on Waverley Bridge approx 300 metres from apt. Costs approx 8.50 pounds per person for a RETURN journey.

3. Taxi, many can be found right outside the terminal building and will cost approx 35 - 50 pounds for a one way journey. However a taxi will drop you off right outside the property you have booked.

Great location. Well appointed apartment. Traveling with my spouse and adult daughter. We found mattress in single beds felt worn out and in need of replacing. Double bed mattress was good. Very clean and were very helpful in allowing us to drop off our luggage while cleaning apartment.

Location was perfect for us, We could go out in the morning and easily return later for a rest and then go out again. The area can be somewhat noisy but the property is reasonably quiet especially the bedrooms which were in the back. The property is clean and comfortable but could use some updating. For example the bathroom vanity is so low you almost have to get down on your knees to use it. Also, the building entrance and stairwell really needs repairs and paint.

Very central to old town attractions. Apartment was small but serviceable for three people. As an older person with a reasonably heavy suitcase, the described three steps up from the street was basis for choosing the apartment. Not mentioned however was the flight of stairs afterwards DOWN to the unit. Oddly, the hot water system made little sense. It came to the faucets pretty quickly but the shower was another matter. I could have turned on the water and then made breakfast in the time it took for the shower to heat up. Three days of cold showers - not good.
