Willowbank House

The location was good and the privacy around the property, the car port was good for socialising in the evening. Maybe a fre more outside seats and a table to eat ate would be good. Parking was good and plenty of space around the house.

The house was good but the decor very dated and old fashioned, one of the onsuite bathrooms has a bath but it's so tight with very little space around the toilet. We tried to walk down the lane towards the shore but were chased and told we were trespassing, shame really because we were so close to the shore. OMG the midges were something else, being Scottish we expected them but have never experienced anything like it. The only other thing that made us feel a bit uncomfortable were the number of CCTV cameras outside, it felt everywhere you went you were being watched.

Excellent location. Easy access to the main road and less than 10 min nice walk to the Portree main town restaurants and supermarket. Love the spacious rooms and the living room with the view. It offered everything we need for a family trip.

Just need to follow with detailed (a little tedious) steps for check out guidance, which was different from usual hotel or residence stay. Anyway this was my first home rent so could be a common thing.

Heaps of room, plenty of space and heaps of ammenities.

The location is a short walk or drive from downtown Portree. The views from the living room and master bedroom were stunning. The house has ample living space and each of the 3 bedrooms is an ensuite, with its own attached bathroom. The shades and curtains are nice for blocking out the early morning sunlight. Everything felt very clean and well maintained.

The communication from the management company was difficult to find in the Booking platform, which made it very challenging to find the directions and self check-in information once we arrived Portree. We even called the agency when we couldn't get inside the house and never heard back. Eventually, were able to access our email and find the detail information and expectations. Willowbank Cottage is like walking into a time capsule of a perfectly preserved 1960's era home. It feels as though grand ma and grandpa are still living there and providing hospitality to their guests. That said, it could use some updating such as replacing the old matresses and pillows. The hot water in the bathroom and heat in the bedrooms was inconsistent. The shower door in the master bedroom is hard to open and there was no bath mat for the slippery tile floor. For the price, I would expect a few more amenities such shampoo, conditioner and soap in the showers and more than one towel per person for a 3 night stay. Out of all the places we stayed in Scotland on our 3 week trip it was significantly more expensive than even the 4 star hotels, with considerably fewer amenities.
