Rooms were very clean and good location.
The restaurant had just opened that night and the food was excellent it was the best Indian meal we have ever had.
The owner went out of his way to make us feel welcome.

The room was a decent size and warm. The bedding was decent winter bedding
Our room number was changed twice before we arrived. We waited at the bar to confirm which number it was before using the key safe instructions. We were told it was the original room number so let ourselves into that room to find it hadn't been remade since the previous guests. Then we were told we were actually in the original change of room number. The staff were apologetic about it.
It could definitely have done with a good hoover and the floor in the bathroom was painted with a lot of paint scratched off.

There was no facilities as being moderniised/updated, only got an email saying this a couple of hours before arrival. Shower and room were clean.
Road noise!!
No facilities at all, I booked as solo traveller and wanted on site staff and meal availability. There were no staff and pub closed.
Outside staircase and key box for room key, couldn't see numbers in dark.

Location was ideal for us as local to family. The room was clean and warm and very comfortable. The staff in the restaurant downstairs were friendly and welcoming.
Just needed a teaspoon to make tea and coffee;-)

Shoe Inn rooms are located upstairs in an pub which itself seems to be closed. Free parking is opposite the building, across a busy road. I stayed in the "garden" side of the building so did not hear the road. The room was clean, comforable and had an ensuite with a good shower. The bed was comfortable and I slept pretty well. At the price I paid, it was a very good value stay
Floor quite creaky and soundproofing between rooms not great, but neighbours were quiet. No wifi at all. Would imagine experience would be different if staying on the "road" side of the building

Could not get access to the room, it was by key lock . There was nobody answering the phone , or WhatsApp or email although I was an hour and 45 mos before checking closed , after about 30 mins another lady who had a similar problem managed to get me in with her key , shocking service , and if it had been raining god only knows, what would have happened

there was little to like! it was a building site with no duty of care shown by the owners, they were never present during our stay, or any staff. What we liked best was to be able to leave to return home. We had to stay due to a family bereavement.
do you really want the full list. Not informed of lack of food until we were 200 miles into our journey. There were many instances of failure to comply with current hospitality regulations. Probably one of the worst was the kettle, that was so corroded that the aluminium could be wiped off the inside with a finger, even the cups were badly tea stained! Three days of using it and we could have aluminium poisoning, having to seek professional advice regarding this situation. I could add 15 contraventions. Secondly a trip hazard on the outside fire escape that we had to use to enter the building. Suffice to say I am requesting a complete refund, from two separate rooms we paid for. One for our daughter and one for ourselves.

Hello, I received a message this morning to say that the pub is closed for
refurbishment. Therefore no evening meal but more importantly no breakfast which was included in the price. The pub is a building site with loud music from the workmen. The key to the room didn't work, but in fact the room was unlocked already.
Of the six key boxes only number 6 was marked. The car park is a disaster area with a dozen transit vans abandoned in it.
"Do not block the gate" is ridiculous as it's hanging off its hinges and hasn't been used for a long time. For security reasons I would not be happy leaving my car there overnight being on a main road too (risk of being broken in to). Once in the room which is on the front of the building the road noise is horrendous on top of the builder's music and the window didn't fully close. There is absolutely no way that we can pass our last night in England in this
"pub" with no services. I would like to be refunded as soon as possible and am currently searching for an alternative. I have photos and videos as proof should you want them, regards, Suzanne

One of the rooms we were given was so small the door caught on the bed when you opened it. Nowhere to store our suitcases, that's assuming we could get them into the room.
Building and renovation work is more extensive than we were led to believe and the area looks like one big construction site. Dust everywhere and the outside of the building is filthy. Narrow walkway beside the busy road made it almost impossible to walk to the entrance without getting dirty,
Never saw a member of staff and when we tried to contact them, their phone was diverted to voice message and our calls and messages were not returned.

The room was beautiful and had all the amenities, the bed was so comfy! Great location near the new forest too, we look forward to returning when the pub and restaurant are refurbished!
It was missing a bin for the room really, that's it! WiFi would have been lovely but we definitely coped without it.
3.0 / 10.0
the room was clean and tidy and that's it, more expensive than a B & B without any facilities
this not really a hotel, basically a building site with rooms upstairs, to get upstairs we had to use steps outside of the building leading upstairs to the rooms, not very safe as at the base of the stairs lead almost onto the main road.
on entry there seemed to be no visible emergency escape exit other the one door, should there have a fire near to the main door we would have been trapped inside,
no bar, no restaurant or outside garden to enjoy, not really a hotel

The room was clean
Total lie from the owners saying that it was under renovation anc would probably be done when we arrived which it's not been touched for a long time the bar was closed the resturang was closed none ofvyhe pictures on the site was correct .booking .com need to get there act together and get some reps to check out these places be fore conning people this is the second one I have booked now and both were an absolute disaster I will be telling everyone about booking .com on social media being so bad as you never replied to the last complaint

Rooms were clean, and had fans. Great value if you get a garden room and just want a bed.
Fast road directly outside the hotel an incredibly narrow footpath, if you slipped coming down the stairs you would be dead. Bar and restaurant are not open and resemble a building site, road noise was excessive and prevented sleep. Some reins had electrical issues.

Really close to Paultons park
Car park was directly over the road
Near, clean, well presented
Smaller than I expected but not a problem
The sink blocks half of the entrance to the shower making it a bit of a squeeze to get in

It was down the road from the festival and was slightly better than my tent
The room was snall, hot and about two feet from the A26.Room was ok bed very small and lumpy, the bathroom had a half clogged shower head that sprayed water every where except where you wanted it to go, room could do with a good clean or tefurb. The light switch was tempermental by the door but switched on ok by the bed.

They waited till we had paid before telling us that the pub & restaurant were closed for refurbishment. Keys were in lockbox, so we never saw a soul. Very disappointed as we expected a nice country pub with rooms. Conned

Stayed one night as pre-cruise stay. We were arriving late and leaving early so just needed an overnight rest spot. The car-park over the road was great, instructions were clear. Room was big enough for what we needed it for. Owner had left a welcome card which was a nice touch as this is the only contact you get with them.
It is remote in terms of amenities nearby. We fortunately had eaten and brought water with us as the pub was closed and no other places in the immediate area. Upon entering the room, it was stiflingly warm, due to the weather. However, the owner had put the fleece winter duvet set on with a heavy duvet inside so couldn't use the duvet but too cold not to sleep with anything so I had to use the bed throw as a blanket. Road is far too loud even with windows closed, so sleeping with window open just not an option.
There was a fan in the wardrobe, but this was literally coated in dust and had obviously not been cleaned in months/years. The room was too hot not to use the fan, so I ended up having to clean it to use it. Around the edges of the skirting boards was also dusty. It just felt very impersonal overall - almost like no consideration for the place since the pub is now closed. If mindful of guest experience, you'd think about things like the weather and what guests might need in warm weather to be comfortable.
On our way out, a guest had vacated and left the front door unlocked so wasn't secure. Owner relies on guests to let themselves in and lock up which is fine if everyone understands they are responsible and remembers to do so.
Overall it just felt a bit abandoned, that it is primarily just a passive source of income as majority of custom will be from overnight cruise guests. But wouldn't recommend as a place to stay for more than one night. Despite low price compared to others in area, it still didn't feel worth what we paid due to points above.

Comfy little rooms for the night, everything was clean and tidy. The rooms were secure, good location for local activities! We will definitely be booking again when we are next in the area.

Great location. Main road between Salisbury and Southampton. Clean and tidy large room
Needs Wi-Fi, unable to work in evening. No remote for TV, a kick in the teeth when you can't use a computer. Self close mechanism for room firedoor is at eye height....it hurts

I stayed in a room at the back of the property so was not disturbed by the traffic from the main road which the inn sits beside. Room pleasant and very clean and would say good value. No staff on site I think, which was a bit strange but no problem checking in and a little note was left in a card which was a nice touch. Good shower.
Thin walls and very creaky floor - luckily my neighbours were quiet after about 10.30 so was fine

I enjoyed my stay at this stay overall. The ensuite room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, which made for a pleasant experience.
However, a couple of things to note: the property is quite close to the main road, so traffic noise—especially at night—is quite noticeable. Light sleepers might want to bring earplugs. Also, the toilet lever lock can be a bit tricky to open at first, but it’s manageable once you get the hang of it.
Despite these small inconveniences, the warm hospitality and overall cleanliness made the stay worthwhile. A good option for travelers who don’t mind a bit of road noise

The Bed was nice and comfy,The views was very tranquil, Very good shower.
Only one thing,There was no armchair, However there was a dressing table stool,But after a hard day's work you need to sit down and relax on a nice chair,I think all rooms would benefit,After all the rooms are so spacious and could easily fit one in there.Apart from that all was fantastic.

Very little
The TV had no remote and didn't work, the wifi was non existent and phone reception was terrible on both of my networks.
5.0 / 10.0
The room was clean and comfortable, and easy to find and get into. The bed was comfortable. Communication with the booking agent was OK beforehand when I asked if breakfast was available, but they didn't make it clear that the pub is currently closed.
Unfortunately, the reviews we had read were clearly for the pub before it changed hands and it is currently (possibly temporarily) closed. As a result, the rooms above an empty pub felt rather soulless and unloved, and a pretty random place to stay. The booking needs to make this more clear. In addition, the hot water was not hot enough for a bath, and the outside steps smelt of pee.
