The Drey

Fitted our needs perfectly. Spacious and had all the facilities we needed

Gail met us at the property on arrival. The Drey was spotless and contained everything required for an amazing stay. It was very hot, and each bedroom had an essential fan! We had tea, coffee, milk, sugar, shampoo and conditioner all provided by the hosts. Attention to detail was second to none. It was a spacious, easily accessible bungalow, and perfect for taking my elderly mother on holiday. All facilities were available including a dishwasher and washing machine. It was perfect!

The approach road to the property was busy, but that is the only minor thing which didn’t affect our stay.

Fantastically clean and comfortable. Really nice touch with the pint of milk!

The Drey is set back off the main road behind the main house, with its own parking area. Our group came in 2 cars and there was more than enough parking. Indoors, The Drey is exactly as shown in the photos, with ample space, good sized bedrooms and a large open plan kitchen-dining area. It has a lovely outdoor, covered veranda to the rear, which feels cosy and we gravitated here. This leads to an unusual garden space that is particularly inviting to children, with artificial grass throughout and lots of climbable features — we were told it used to be a nursery. We were met by the host, with the keys, who showed us around and who had kindly provided milk for us in the fridge.

Our host told us that she had a couple of dachshunds but that she would close both the gates to our zone so that they wouldn't disturb us. However shortly after we'd settled in, she opened a gate and came in with the dogs. That was OK with us, though it seemed a little strange. Some time later, while we were enjoying our privacy, chatting on the veranda and playing with our child on the lawn, she came in again with the dogs. This felt intrusive and very strange. One of the dogs took a wee on the artificial lawn that we had just been crawling on, and the owner brushed this off, giving us the sense that this was their normal weeing spot. Needless to say, we abandoned any games on the lawn after that. When I came to my bed I noticed a long dark hair on the sheet. Pulling back the duvet, I ended up pulling of 10+ hairs from all over it. This was not nice at all. Other asides: The freezer was broken. I did not mention this as we were only staying 1 night... and I had already asked whether she had a cafetière (they didn't).
