The Willows Boutique Stays by i-Stay Whitby

Was close to Whitby centre and all amenities

There was a very pungent smell of cats especially in the bathroom

The property was very clean and situated in a good spot

We liked everything no faults at all

We stayed in Whitby while attending a wedding in Robin Hood’s Bay. The facilities were great, with plenty of complimentary coffee, tea and biscuits provided. The room was quite warm when we arrived, but opening the windows helped with ventilation and made the temperature much more comfortable. The room was small, but a good size for a one-night stay, and it was very clean. The communication was really good with clear check in intructions. Overall, we had a comfortable stay and would be happy to return.

The main downside was the late check-in time, which was from 4pm. We were told that bringing the check-in time forward would cost an additional £6 per hour, which I felt was a little excessive. I also wasn’t particularly comfortable with having to provide a photo of my passport or another form of ID before arrival, as I’m always cautious about sharing personal documents through apps etc due to data protection and privacy concerns.

Good location, comfortable bed, quick replies from staff online

Check in at 4pm checkout at 10am. Property charges anyone who books via booking.com to arrive an hour earlier, most places would be decent enough to let you in if the room is free. There’s no one on the property so communication is all done over text. Quick replies from them but hard to fully communicate what we needed. For example there was a coffee machine in the room but no pods for it, so we asked for some. We were sent to a room downstairs to find them, but there were only instant coffee sachets so coffee machine was unusable. Could hear snoring from the room next door too.
