Hidden Cottage - Quirky & Quiet

The most beautiful cottage, in a wonderful location. Lots of hills to keep your heart beating. Great communication from the owners, and we had everything we needed. Everything was perfect, apart from we felt a little let down by cleanliness. There is a Chinese and Indian takeaway across the road - I can confirm these were lovely! There is also a hourly bus into town seconds out of the door. This bus can get very busy. But only a 10/15 walk into town.

I dont want to shed a negatively light as I absolutely loved your cottage. But we noticed alot of hairs in the bedroom closest to the stairs, plus hairs and used wipes in the draws and within the bedding. Long brown hair. Also in the second bed room further up, there was a burnt hole in the carpet plus additional staining. Also again used wipes in the bedside draws as well as hairs. We were only provided one toilet roll for a 5 night stay, so had to purchase some more. In the bathroom there was also quite alot of mould around the sealing in the bath. The above notes absolutely did not affect our stay, the rest of the property was absolutely lovely. Just think upstairs needs abit of love! Also the outside patio door does not lock.

Very cozy and clean, loved the house, very spacious and clean.

There is no parking at all and very little parking nearby. It was quite stressful finding somewhere legal to park within a short walking distance

The cottage had some really nice old quirky and cosy bits, like the big wooden beams and exposed stone work. I'm sure in the winter the open fire is lovely. Beds were comfortable, if a little small. We had a slightly late check out which was hugely appreciated. The area of St Mary's in Brixham is nice . The nearby church is lovely, if a little loud with hourly bells at night! The nearby large Spar shop helped us avoid large supermarkets, which was a bonus, and the curry house down the road is actually brilliant! Really delicious takeaway, and they were amazing with allergies. Town / harbour was walkable for active adults! St Mary's Bay nearby (we drove there) was gorgeous for swimming.

If I'm really honest..... A little Welcome info sheet to explain a few things would help masses, ie; where's the hidden drawer with all the missing utensils that no one can find! Where's the outdoor bin or recycling. Or any other commonly asked questions. As it wasn't possible to always gain answers on the phone to the 'care taker' who cares for the property for the owners. And you dont want to keep calling if late. A few curtesy loo rolls would help masses also - I've never been to a family holiday let where just 1 is provided! More utensils and stuff in the kitchen is needed - oven gloves and pizza baking trays spring to mind. The tap in the kitchen constantly dripped, a lot. Furniture in lounge (chairs) were stained and not the best. WiFi is dodgy. The table when extended doesn't really fit in the space, at least not with people in there too. Needs some ambient lighting or lamps in the lounge. None of the fairy lights battery's worked. So much more could be done in this area, and cheaply! A little more honesty in the online photos would also help, so people can book in an informed way - we were not greeted by a bright doorway as in the photos (we were greeted by a fly infested over-flowing outdoor bin right by the front door, with rotting fruit stuffed in, in the alley way. (Property's bin or someone else's?) In the dining / kitchen area it was not bright and airy as in the photos, as there is now a poorly fitted net curtain stuffed behind the mirror blocking most of the light . In the outdoor courtyard, you're unexpectedly sharing a courtyard (not explicit in description) and directly looked at. The property entrance was a bit hard to find too, as theres no photo of the very low alley. Is on a nice street, its not a bad area, just quirky location. But some more honesty about its location and its shared areas would be good. But over priced for how we found it. Loads of potential with some TLC!
