Couldn't enjoy
Get room on the arrival (005) which hasn't been cleaned/maintained! Dirty towels on the floor, bedding not changed, empty bottles everyone, yet the reception staff has been happy to give us this room! What a shame! We stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions and never have issues.
Next we been given room 501! No smart tv, or working channels, smoke alarm goes on while taking a shower! Bed night light not working. Power socket next to the bed unsafe to use! Door handle broke! Absolutely shocking experience!
Staff being ignorant and irresponsible. Not given is any invoice/check in document as we been given every other time we stayed there. This is a valid paper as includes all important info such as Wii fi password, door code and confirmation of your booking. Lift not working, room 501 is on the 5th floor so you need to use the stairs. Wouldn't be a problem if you are an Athlete or have no health issues, being asthmatic and with hernia this had an massive impact on my condition.

It’s belter location right in town and also communal kitchens. Staff really helpful and always clean room. We have stayed here loads n it’s one of our favs value for money and warm shower clean space.
No lift stairs r STEEP x but if ur young hip cool u will have no probs getting up n down but i wouldn’t come here if you’re in a wheelchair

Lift not working, appears it has been out of order for months. Was only advised of this after booking. Carrying luggage up the uneven stairs to the 6th floor was a challenge .
The hotel system had been hacked, details obtained by scammers ( attempting to lure guests into following a link to secure booking). The hotel were aware of this but did not advise guests, they did confirm when I contacted the hotel.

No working lift so had to walk to the top floor. We weren't told at booking the lift was broken and we are both in our sixties. There were no batteries in the tv remote and reception didn't have any to give us.

Lift was broken meaning we had to walk up 3 sets of stairs. Door was faulty walking in had to pull it extra hard. Fire alarm went off about 5/6 times at 5am ish in the morning and the place was like a maze

Arriving it's like a block of flats not a hotel... Go downstairs to check in at a very small lobby then back up really small stair cases to each floor (like a block of flats) heater in room didn't work checked out a day early told them why we were leaving to be told they could move us to another room on the 6th floor no apology about broken heater or offer to have anyone look at it.

The room had a good clean spacious bathroom.
There was no view at all, the toilet had a leak, the toilet seat was smaller than the toilet, the bed was not a standard double but smaller, the lift was out of order, the main stairs were steep and the steps were larger than normal, no good for people with health problems.

At 9pm the evening before we checked in we had an email to say the lift was broken
On arrival I asked when it broke to be told it had been broken since January!! No intentions to fix as they said it is to expensive
Only told AFTER the cancellation period had passed and they had full payment yet they knew before we booked to stay in the rooms back in April
Two rooms booked and paid for as took our elderly parents to be placed on the top floor! Steps that are very dangerous and HIGH! They are not your typical stairs you get at home l, they are narrow and very very steep!
After making it up 18 sets of STEEP steps with luggage we arrived at our room, well.... that's another story
Stunk of old urine, ripped wallpaper, a what is described as a double bed was a small double bed shoved in a corner, a kettle you could only plug in near your pillow on the bed that had no shelf or headboard, a bed light that when you sat up in bed would have sliced your head if not careful, dirty blinds, a shower that you can pee faster than.....
a small very dirty sofa that can only be described as seman stains on... a carpet you didn't dare walk on without anything on your feet because of the stench.... it says heating in rooms but only electric radiator available on the wall which was wonky and looked burnt out so we didn't dare use it.
We felt sorry for the poor guy that arrived back at the same time as us who had a boot on his leg and using crutches that had to also get to the top floor!
If I could put a zero for this rating I would but the lowest unfortunately is a 1 that I can use!

Great location, room was small but clean and modern
The bed was so uncomfortable and saggy and you could feel the springs-spent the first night in a chair. They did however change the mattress for our second night. The lift wasn’t working and we were on the third floor where my husband struggled with his knee, I specifically booked with a lift

Location and being a period building. The views and the fact high end tea and coffee and plenty of towels are offered etc. toiletries good quality also. Small touches are good. Decorated nice.
Lift wasn’t working and asthmatic. Also told I wasn’t aloud to check in early yet others were given this option by the manager. Who could see i was sitting there waiting and avoided me when walking past after checking in a couple.

Can't argue for what you get for the price but it certainly reflects it.
Lift was out of order. (Which is likely uncommon but was an inconvenience when you are on the third floor). Room was extremely cramped and wouldn't wanted to have spent much time in there even alone as a solo traveller. Room had been cleaned to an acceptable level but there was a lot of signs of wear and age such as stains on the walls that had clearly been there for some time. Bed was tired and uncomfortable. Completely understand that when you pay less you get less but I've stayed in similar establishments in the same area which were about the same price wise but a better experience.

The only thing good is the location.
This is not an appropriate hotel for children. Most of this hotel houses "people in dire need". Quite frankly, while we were in the hotel my wife was extremely nervous and couldn't settle as we had 2 small children with us.
The noise levels at night was extremely loud and this was nothing to do with outside. The hygiene levels within the room and hotel were also not adequate. Poor ventilation within the rooms was also an issue with only a 4inch opening on the window.
