I got what I expected for the money - and more! Adequate one star hotel 2 minutes from station.

This is one of the cheapest hotels close to the Gare du Nord in Paris, an area I have known well for decades. I didn't expect luxury and I didn't get it. The breakfast was a typical Continental breakfast and was fine. Anybody wanting a cooked English breakfast won't get it here. I requested a low floor room (because I am not good with stairs and there is no lift) and I got one. The receptionist helped me with our luggage up the stairs, for which I was grateful (and he earned a decent tip!) On departure day, check-out was 11:30 which is quite generous, however my Eurostar was not until 17:00 so no problem (and no charge) leaving our bags at the hotel until it was time for us to depart. We had to vacate the room, of course.

Of course I would have liked the hotel to have a lift. But if it had, it would have been more expensive and probably got two stars instead of one. The bed was, for me, too soft, and it gave me a bit of a backache. But for many people it would have been fine.

A convenient overnight stay.

The hotel was very well located for the Gare du Nord. We were on one of the lower floors. Breakfast was okay. It was fine for an overnight as we travelled through Paris. Check-in process went smoothly.

Although a Monday evening outside the holiday period, it was still very noisy in the evening. Fortunately it wasn't too hot so we were able to keep the window closed which helped. If the window had been open it would have even more noisy. If we'd had a room on a higher floor it might have been a bit quieter but with a narrow, steep stair and no lift would have been difficult to get much luggage up.

Nice stuff, helped us to bring our suitcases to the fifth floor without elevator.

I wish I knew there is no elevator I didn't understand why booking charged me €145 for the room that costs €90 if rented on the spot Maybe because I am a valued customer 🤔

Glad it was just one night

Glad it was only one night. Couldn’t swing a rat in the shower. The room was presentable but toilet and shower cupboards weren’t great. Very noisy area but that might’ve been because it was Saturday night. Watched an entertaining bar fight from our window. Breakfast was very poor. Noticed everyone who came before and after us had juice and croissants but they weren’t offered to us. Only had a bowl of cereal. Afternoon staff were lovely. The man on the front desk and the cleaner were really nice.

L'hôtel était plus que dans son jus. Une étoile ne veut pas dire à l'abandon : ici, tout était rouillé, une odeur de Javel se superposait à une odeur de remontée d'égout et des pointes dépassaient du sol stratifié.
