Town: The ancient, Royal Burgh town of Peebles rests proudly in the beautiful River Tweed valley, amidst the picturesque Scottish Border Hills. The town's heart lies at its main shopping street, situated on a spur of land between the River Tweed and Eddleston Water, and is home to an array of fine shops, interesting pubs, quality restaurants and the Eastgate Theatre. Located in an area boasting lower than average rainfall, clean air and bright sunshine, visitors flock to Peebles throughout the year to enjoy a variety of events which include art festivals, highland games and the renowned Beltane Week. Enjoy excellent walking, mountain biking and fishing opportunities at the surrounding Forest of Tweeddale and Southern Upland Way, or partake in a round of golf at Peebles’ own superb, championship golf course. There are a host of attractive parks and gardens and several historical houses to explore, whilst the historical city of Edinburgh, with its fascinating museums and celebrated festival is within easy touring distance. A holiday destination to savour, at any time of year.
