Son Thoi Homestay

Good environment (the house / phòng dorm) and location (near river). Recommend leaving at sunrise and walking to sapa via small roads. One day is enough to explore nearby areas like waterfall(s), valley mountain, rice/corn fields, hmong houses (they often try to sell you stuff but can just chat)

The area is very turisty/ many places overpriced, but easy to find peaceful areas too. I'm really interested in minority culture and language but couldn't connect well as the woman didn't say a word even if i used simple Vietnamese to ask. The man was very caring though, helped with clothes, but I couldn't really help in daily routine. No food was provided, had to go out to eat, the phở place has good 40k meals. The relatives nextdoor seemed to have meals (not very cheap, tried to ask about it also directly but got menu too late).

The local family was the highlight of our trip, they are such a lovely family. One night we had dinner with them, and they invited us to join a celebration at the grandparents house. The room was perfect, and great value for money. I would come back here over and over again. Perfect
