Surelee Homestay

Family run business. Super nice family. Very homey vibe. Did the family dinner which was fun. Booked the room with the balcony. The balcony is not connected to the room, you have to go outside the room and around the corner. Was not a problem but just a heads up for other people. A bit far from town and you have to walk up a hill to get there but the hill is super short. Great location for some of the trails in the area. Very peaceful area! Overall, I loved this place it was exactly what we were looking for. Family was very helpful and kind.

Fans are a bit loud but we wear earplugs when travelling anyways.

I had the most amazing stay here - I could not recommend more. Thank you for having us in your beautiful home stay. The family here were so lovely and the children were so sweet and kind. They took us on the rice fields and showed us a waterfall. The food here is delicious and also a free breakfast! The breakfast was so nice too. The bathrooms were clean and plenty of hot water, a great shower. It is a little bit far out but look at maps and you will know that! You don’t get a view that amazing by being in the main town! It is a slight steep walk up to the home stay, but the family will happily help you take bags up which is so kind. Thank you again

We did the trek with Surelee home stays. It was good, but for the first half of the trek we were accompanied by two women in addition to the guide that we paid for, who were lovely. After 5km or so they stopped and said they were leaving, and then brought out wallets and bracelets and other items, asking us to buy something from them at a relatively higher price than I had seen the same items being sold for in the town. We felt quite pressured to buy something, and bought a small wallet for 200K from one woman, but the other woman was not happy that we didn’t buy anything from her. We did not have enough cash but it was quite uncomfortable, as they said “I walked with you, you have to buy something from me”, while our guide watched. I have no problem buying from the local population, and had done in the days previously for souvenirs, but this felt uncomfortable and not what I was expecting on the paid trek or something that I have experienced before. It felt slightly coordinated with the home stay and the guide, which felt a bit weird and uncomfortable. I would have preferred if the trek involved a short stop at a local shop in a village where we could have looked and bought something if we chose to, rather than in this forced way. Also the food on the trek was quite bad and gave both me and my partner mild food poisoning. All in all, the trek was just fine, for other feedback, it would have been lovely if the trek was more engaging, and gave more information about the local area.
