Symi Roots House

We had an excellent stay at Symi Roots House. The location is truly great—it's set on the hill above the village, around 65 meters above sea level—so you get a lovely setting and a peaceful atmosphere. There is a steep walk from the village to the house, which we found perfect for staying active and keeping in good shape (unless you prefer to take a motorcycle or car). Inside, the house offers plenty of space and it feels comfortable and well set up. We were also warmly welcomed with snacks and fresh water in the fridge. The WiFi worked reliably throughout our stay, and the home includes two balconies, which were a real bonus. The layout is also convenient: the property has two bedrooms on two separate floors, giving a good sense of privacy. The house was very clean on arrival, which made everything feel effortless from the start. Overall, we had a good experience at Symi Roots House, and we’d happily recommend it—especially for the location, space, cleanliness, and reliable amenities—while noting the few practical points above.

That said, there are a couple of downsides to be aware of. The toilet is on the lower floor, so it requires going downstairs during the night. Also, the internal staircase between floors is quite narrow with small steps and doesn’t feel very safe. However, there is an external staircase that can be used to connect the two floors, which helps as an alternative. Another issue was on the upper floor: there are no mosquito nets on the windows. Because of this, the windows can’t really be opened safely for airflow, and instead the air conditioning needs to be used. It would be much better if mosquito nets were added, so air could circulate at night without relying on the A/C.

A cute well kept house with a great view Everything was clean and we had what we needed for our stay The host were very great in communicating before and during the stay- we felt very safe and had all the info we needed. The host also arranged a transfer from the port, when we arrived- much needed! Very quiet area- no noise at night The house has 3 balconies, so you can enjoy the view!
