Bright Old Town City Centre Apartment

Awesome location. Apartment was well stocked and had everything we needed. We even enjoyed the record player and the wide variety in the record selection. Location was awesome! Great communication with the owner. A wonderful experience.

Excellent location and very clean!

Lots of stairs to walk up - I have two older parents and that was hard on them. My fault for poorly planning that, however.

The place is well-located within easy walking distance of the entire Royal Mile and lots of shopping and restaurants. It was clean and comfortable, and seemed like good value for the money we paid.

While I recognize it’s not the hosts’ fault, this place was SO noisy. It fronts onto a promenade that contains multiple pubs that are popular with hen and stag parties, students, and seemingly everyone else in Edinburgh. It’s also directly above two of the pubs. Every night, we were woken at least once by drunken screaming from outside. The night before we left, there was a concert in one of the pubs below us until after 1 a.m., adding loud music to all the other noise from outside. Even with white noise machines, earplugs, and the double windows closed, we couldn’t sleep until after 2 a.m., which was not ideal when we had to catch an early train. We also couldn’t get the heat to go on, even after following the detailed instructions, so the place was chilly. To be fair, we could have messaged the hosts about this and I’m sure they would have helped, but decided we could cope with it as it was.

The room was *right in the center* of most tourist sites-Royal Mile, Grassmarket, and Victoria Street. Really, it was amazing. The bathroom was clean, and there was hot water! Yay! The kitchen was cozy and had what we needed. There was space to spread out! And did I mention the location???

There are some things that just could have made us more comfortable. The room was a bit dated and warm. Some fans would have been nice because it was a bit warm. A few more comfy chairs and maybe a TV would have been good in the living room. Some baskets outside the bathroom would be very helpful because there is no place to put any bathroom supplies in the bathroom. There were many supplies (TP, blow dryer, etc) in the house, but I didn't want to look through all the cabinets, so labels or something would have been helpful. The oven was not clean, and I dusted it when we got there. A dirty sponge was left by the sink, so I bought one. Overall, a great location, some space to spread out, but not as vacation-friendly as I would have liked for the price.
