Vila Shkalla

We had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend this accommodation! It’s a great all-round place to stay, with a beautiful location, nice view and a very convenient base for exploring the highlights of Theth. The food was also excellent. We had both breakfast and dinner here and really enjoyed both. It was especially nice that they served traditional Albanian food, which made the experience feel even more authentic. Everything was tasty, fresh and perfect after a day of exploring. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. The people were incredibly kind, helpful and genuinely interested in making sure we had a great stay. They were always happy to give advice, help us with anything we needed, and ask about our day. When we had just arrived, the daughter and her husband (who were also there at the time) even helped us by pumping up the tyres of our rental car and driving us to a restaurant. This was incredibly thoughtful and made us feel very welcome from the start. The whole family was very involved and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. It really felt like they cared about their guests, rather than just providing a place to sleep. A lovely accommodation, great traditional food, a beautiful location and, above all, genuinely warm and helpful people. Definitely recommended if you’re staying in Theth!

If we had to mention a few small downsides, the room was relatively small and simple (bedroom for two people), but it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bathroom light occasionally flickered or went out and sometimes took a little while to come back on. One of the bedroom lights also didn’t work properly, although there were other working lights, so this wasn’t really an issue for us. Overall, these were only minor points and did not take away from our enjoyable stay.

Gorgeous location, absolutely beautiful, well appointed room. Kind and helpful hosts. The breakfast was magnificent! Loved hanging out on the terrace and just listening to the river and the birds.

The lack of air-conditioning (or even a fan to get the air moving) was a little problematic during the heat wave, especially as this is an attic room. The bed only had a heavy duvet, rather than a light sheet -- almost seemed like there had not been a heat wave in the past and the hosts were caught unprepared. No electricity in the bathroom on the night I stayed there, so I had to use a flashlight. A bit disappointing since this was my one "splurge" hotel on my three week trip.

Villa Shkalla ligt op een prachtige plek in Theth, samen met gratis parkeerplek. De host spreekt gebrekkig Engels, maar is erg aardig. Onze kamer was mooi en er was een groot gedeeld balkon. Het ontbijt was erg lekker en uitgebreid.

Helaas hoor je ALLES van de buren. Wanneer mensen rondstappen in de kamer boven je en zelfs hoor je mensen in de kamer naast je praten. Na het douchen kwam er ook een sterke lucht uit het doucheputje die zeker niet aangenaam was.
