Perfect home away from home. The young adults enjoyed playing pool and it was welcoming and homely. The complimentary biscuits went down well after a long drive thank you!
The garden isn’t enclosed unless you close the drive way gates which we didn’t bother with but if you have a dog who you want to be off lead in the garden, just be mindful it’s a busy road and they could feasibly get into a neighbours garden through slated open fence.

The house was really nice, great facilities and in a great location. The kitchen was well-equipped and had all the essentials. The house has a large bathroom with a bath/shower, and two of the bedrooms had en-suite shower rooms. The property has a comfortable living room and a large dining room. The house location is great, close to York city centre, within walking distance. There are also bus stops nearby. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in York.

The location of the house was perfect, took about 20 minutes to walk to centre of York. The house was spacious and bright. Cafe nearby for monster bacon and egg rolls! The host was very responsive when notified that the heating and gas fire were not working and the house was cold. Two wooded walks for dogs in immediate vicinity.
Advised there would be tea/coffee to make a drink on arrival but unfortunately there were only teabags, no coffee, milk or sugar which I would have taken with me if had been advised to contrary. This property could be an absolute gem but is purely functional at best. The pictures of the garden are taken with some degree of artistic licence as on arrival, the grass was overgrown, the bottom half of the garden is a wilderness and there is a dilapidated shed/ uneven flagstones and old garden equipment / recycling bins just lying around- definately not conducive to sitting out on the picnic bench and having a pleasant drink. The property is listed as dog friendly but the garden is not secure to the front as the gates cannot be secured, and with the afore-mentioned state of the garden, we were only able to take our dog out on her lead in the garden.
We booked in at 4pm and went out into York on our first evening, on return, we tried to turn up the heating and put on the fire in the living room but neither worked. Since it was 10pm, it was too late to notify anyone to get the issue resolved- did this the following morning and hosts were very helpful, said we could go and get heaters from B&Q and be reimbursed (didn't do this)but would get a plumber to visit to sort the boiler issue. The living room fire may just have needed a new battery in the remote but we did not need this once the heating was sorted by the time we returned to the property on the second afternoon.
The property was clean, but there were no pillow protectors, the quilt cover in our double room- although laundered had some stains on it. The property could be a 5* with some attention to detail, currently it is functional at best . It seems that there is not a checklist completed prior to guest arrival as basics not taken care of. A Welcome information pack at the property which includes a quick guide on the heating would be great
