Wonderful place to stay. Spotless, unbeatable location, surprisingly quiet (given that it is directly on Piazza della Cisterna), helpful and cheerful staff. We chose a room with a valley view. Truly outstanding!! Some minor technical quibbles (shower drain loose, lighting difficult to figure out), but we would go back there in a heartbeat.

Right on the piazza and a room with valley view and room was sound proof and quiet. Updated room looks new. Breakfast available for fee. Hotel staff are nice. Parking wasn’t too far. Parked in P2. The trick is get in a line at the entry gates and wait for an opening , green light, then press button to get ticket. You pay on way out next day at the machine which takes tap before you get into your car, then you insert the ticket at the gate when you leave.

We loved our corner room and the patio overlooking the medieval village and Tuscan countryside, a million dollar view! The breakfast was nice, however, getting our car up to the hotel was challenging. Also, there was unpleasant smell coming from toliet, we notified staff, but it continued through our stay. Overall, we would stay there again!

You couldn’t find a more beautiful location! Only downside is when taking luggage it’s a long haul of up and down hills with great inclines. The elevator from the parking lot was out of service……climbing over 40 stairs straight up carrying luggage was quite the job. Then another 10 minute walk up hill to the hotel. Once there it was well worth it! Views stunning choices of restaurants and stores were amazing and the views unreal

This hotel is a fabulous place to stay right in San Gimignano. The room had a spectacular view out over the Tuscan countryside. As it was right inside the walls everything was right there and it was particularly nice early in the morning and in the evening when the crowds have thinned.

A comfortable, clean room in a great location. The shower was the only thing not so comfortable. Very small and a rain shower straight down or a powerful wand shower which was difficult to manoeuvre in the small space. But, lots of hot water was good.

This was a lovely hotel located right on the square! It had beautiful views and was located very conveniently to all the historical sites and delicious restaurants. The drive to the hotel to drop off our luggage was very difficult but we made it and the parking was convenient. We loved it here!

Old hotel in an old mountain top town. Given the limitations of this environment the Cisterna is a great little hotel that met all of our needs .The Cisterna is located in Cisterna Square in town close to sights, dining and a valley view walkway. The views to the valley from the rooms is amazing. The rooms are a good size and are modernized and comfortable. The staff is great (friendly and helpful). Many choices for dining close by (in the square) but others will require some minor hills and steps to get to. The morning breakfast is adequate (continental) with cappuccino/expresso included). The hotel is within the city walls so you have to park in a lot outside the walls and walk in (hills) or the hotel can shuttle you to and from parking lot for a fee. San Gimignano is very busy during the day with tour buses etc. highly suggest an overnight stay to get the full experience and Cisterna is the perfect choice of hotel to soak in the history/ambiance of San Gimignano. Highly recommend.
