Very friendly staff! However, overall felt on-edge the whole time. Mixed dorm had very cramped bathroom, and the only other toilet facility on my floor was also mixed, which I wasn’t too keen on as a solo female traveler. It meant there wasn’t any space I could go to be away from men if I needed or wanted to. Lobby was inviting but “chill out room” has a strange setup and wasn’t all that conducive to “hanging out”. At least it had a kettle and microwave! Overall, if you are a solo female traveler and you are spending your hard-earned money to explore beautiful Edinburgh, save a bit more for a better hostel.

Lovely place, BEST CHEAP BREAKFAST I'VE EVER HAD, in the posh bar across the street. PRIME LOCATION. Kind staff. I wish hostels would check people in throughout the day instead of forcing a long queue at 3pm. With today's tech they could issue a key card that allowed no access until 3pm, and they could text you your room number then. The 4-person room was very tight, had no ventilation or AC, and had zero usable storage space because underbed lockers did not allow for larger items that otherwise could have been shoved under the bed. As there are lockers available in the nice hang-out room, underbed cages are silly. There was no paper toweling in the guest kitchen after midnight so I had to swipe a roll of TP from the common WC to dry my dishes.

From start to finish, our experience here was absolutely wonderful. We booked an ensuite double room, and it was spotless, comfortable, and great value for money. The location couldn’t have been better, everything in both the Old Town and New Town was within easy walking distance, which made exploring Edinburgh so convenient. The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The breakfast buffet was well worth it, with plenty of options to start the day right. My wife and I truly enjoyed every moment of our stay, everything was perfect. We wouldn’t hesitate to book here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh!

I passed my backpacking era, but since I was curious to see how hostels are these days, I decided to book a top bunk bed at st christopher. I must say I’m glad I only have to maneuver that top spot and narrow ladder for one night😅 The bed and mattress was clean. Bathroom was ok since there are 6 female sharing. There’s no AC; so on hot summer days you must open the windows which mean you can hear all kind of noise from outside until dawn. Location however is very strategic and close to all attractions, good food and transport. Staff was friendly and helpful. There’s a chill out room with simple kitchenette. It was my last night in edinburgh so I can loose one night of sleep no problem. But if I still have to continue my trip and need my energy, I will book in a hotel to get a better night of sleep. I guess it depends on what your trip purpose and your noise tolerance level.

Great staff and room was nice. Weird bathroom, had a strange smell, and it would have been better if the rooms had an en suite shower or toilet. I liked that the beds had curtains and each bed had its own charging port. I'd stay here again.

Good for a night stay. I had a private room with en-suite and it could use an upgrade especially the bathroom. It was still dirty with hairs from other guests on the bed and pillow and the floor wasn’t even swept. Fine for a night but on the pricier side

Great spot right in the centre of old town. Buses and trains super close by which is convenient. Rooms are reasonably clean, but the chill zone needs a bit of TLC as it has an interesting smell. Shared showers are really clean for what I expected, a little small but for a hostel it's expected. Would stay here again

We booked a private room and were surprised that it was a tiny bunk room with hardly any space to walk around. The en-suite bathroom reminded us of a campground bathroom. Even though it had a private bathroom, we still had to pay for towels. WiFi in the room was so slow we couldn’t even book tickets for sites the next day, much less stream a movie. We checked out after one night, even though we paid for three. Would NOT recommend the private room unless you plan to use it for sleeping ONLY.

Home maintenance please pay attention to one particular shower cabin (the one at the end)- terrible function,water was literally just DRIPPING from the shower head,drip..drip..drip,by then I was already undressed of course,and the other cabins were already occupied. Btw,I was staying at 4th.floor. Please check it out. Thx.room 403. But otherwise enjoyed my stayed.

2nd time I've stayed here, perfect location for access to the city and station. The staff are all beyond lovely and happy to help! I would suggest booking double bunks rather than triple if you want a bit more room to sit on your bed etc! Great place very affordable, friendly, clean and comfy!

cleaning is required, lightings needs to be adjust in both toilet and bathroom since they were switching off automatically even when the person was inside. That’s about it. Overall it was alright, safe and convenient.

The area was in a great location. My room had a private bathroom but no hot water for the shower. The room was also cold with no way to turn up the heat. The hostel makes you pay for a towel and service can be a bit slow. On the plus side the room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. The views from the window were stunning.

It was the second time I booked in this hostel and I really like it. It’s near the city centre, Royal mile and the Edinburgh’s castle. The team is very cool, the breakfast is good and full of choices. I recommend it!
