EmiLu Design Hotel is well located in the city centre so you have plenty of food and shopping options nearby. The hotel has a modern design with excellent facilities such as gym, sauna and a rooftop lounge which truly make it feels like a home away from home. The staffs were professional and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We checked into URBAN ROOM that is minimalist-modern, spacious , clean and with French windows that can open up for good ventilation. A smoke free hotel where dogs are allowed. Lucky that we did not see any during our stay. Strict cleanliness is highly acclaimed by many guests, yet as we started to unpack and use the amenities, we found other people's hair ( long wavy blonde hair) intertwined onto a bath towel. There is no in-room phone and we had to go down and ask in person the means of communication or if we want to make requests. They explain that everything is by scanning the QR code. So, the management assumes everyone MUST have a mobile phone in this day & age, but what if there were still people without one or luddites? Housekeeping is basically good , especially after we alerted them of the blonde hair on the towel and two days later a second strand found on the bathrobe that really got them on their toes to vacuum and inspect their towels and bedding very carefully. The hotel is relatively new ( opened in 2021 ) and situated at a very convenient location, easy to reach within walking distance to major shopping and touristy areas along wide avenues dotted with cafes, delicatessens, ice cream + dessert parlours. Not far away venturing on foot are lovely parks and gardens on one end, and delightful medium sized shopping malls featuring good international brands like H & M, Mango etc on the other end. There is no ironing board and no iron, so we again had to go down to ask for one, delivered shortly. However, it is a dry iron so we asked if they have one with steam, which was later brought up. There is no laundry bag, we asked and they brought up us some plastic bags. It is when night falls when we reckon the room is way too dim. They really should have more lights as not everybody wants a romantic vibe. We want to do some reading & writing and the dimness makes it hard if we just sit in the sitting room, not using the reading light by the bed. The pen in the room has long dried up and the writing pad only has two pages left, so we requested to have a pen that writes well and some more writing paper. The young man on night shift at the reception looks as though he is an intern or just someone to sit there so his presence fulfils the hotel’s pledge of 24-hour front desk. Because he cannot provide useful tourist info for us to plan our itinerary for the next day, or has no idea where things are when we ask for housekeeping items, his polite, gentle and smiley demeanour was of little help esp when he only speaks a smattering of English, without the basic lingua franca to facilitate effective communication or presumably well trained as a hotel staff in a modern city, to give us the basic tourist info / advice that we are asking for, on the spot. As for the bathroom, the hand-held shower is a failure, a totally dumb and ineffective tool because the rigid shower head cannot be adjusted to one’s desired angle, meaning it is installed at an one and only fixed angle, thereby water jets out straight at your face if you are at its height, or if you try to lower it (it is very tightly screwed for it to slide down the pole), the rigid head will spurt water at your tummy or below. It makes us wonder if the hotelier has ever used it to personally encounter this insane problem. Having said that, the bathroom is clean and all steely areas like faucets and shower tools are limescale-free, but such a bad, inflexible and ill-designed shower head poses a real problem and depletes us of an enjoyable shower after a long day exploring the city. Then the next night upon our return to the room, found my personal face towel gone. Apparently housekeeping mindlessly grabbed it together with the rest of the towels. We followed the instructions on the card urging all guests to save water so only those on the floor are meant for washing. We made sure to duly and conspicuously hang up things for reuse , so there is no misunderstanding. B
