    I stayed at Voco Manchester for one night. The hotel is within walking distance to both Piccadilly railway station and the main shopping area (about or less than 10 min each way). The room I booked was an accessible room and so it was large with a huge bathroom. It came with the usual amenities with a coffee machine in the room as well. There’s a dispenser with citrus water in the lobby, which was a really welcome addition on an extremely hot day. Just one suggestion - the switch for the curtains could be more clearly indicated. The staff were generally friendly and helpful except one female staff at the front desk who seemed a bit impatient with guests’ requests. There’s also a £50 deposit being held by the hotel for a few days until they make sure you have not wrecked the place. 😂 Also, there’s a city tax of £1.2 which no one asked me to pay the whole time I was at the hotel, but it was charged to my credit card later without any notification. I would appreciate being told about it when I was staying and could choose how to pay.

    My friend and I stayed in this hotel and were not disappointed. The twin room we booked was brilliant, exceptionally spacious for an inner city hotel with a very large bathroom that was brilliantly equipped with a lovely shower. The room and bathroom were bith exceptionally clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff at the hotel were incredibly plesant and accommodating. The location was superb! Only a 10-15 minute walk from both Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Picadilly train stations, Picadilly gardens and the main shopping street, and only a 10 minute walk to the Manchester Opera Hiuse where my friend and I were going ti watch a show. It is also incredibly close to a wide variety of restaurants, bars and cafes, all within walking distance. We both enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much, would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Manchester City centre, and will definitely be coming back again in the future.

    Here’s a stronger, clearer version for a complaint or review: From the minute we arrived at the hotel last Sunday, the staff were rude. I will never stay here again. When we arrived, the man on reception initially told us we didn’t have a booking, only to later find it. As we had an event to attend, we asked if our bags could be placed in our room. It was already 2pm, so we expected the room to be nearly ready, but we were refused check-in and no assistance was offered. My friend and I had booked the room together. When we returned later that night, we were refused entry and told we could not stay. One of our friends had come back to the room with us, and because of this, the receptionist would not allow me into my own room. At 4:30am, after arguing with the man I left the 2 women at the hotel, I was forced to leave the hotel. I had no choice but to pay for an Uber home, over an hour away. I even offered to pay for another room, but he refused this as well. The receptionist’s attitude was completely unacceptable, and he showed no concern for our safety. Anything could have happened. To make matters worse, we would have been in the room for less than four hours as we needed to leave again at 8:30am. This was an extremely disappointing experience and certainly not the level of service I would expect from a hotel. This version is firm, professional, and highlights the safety concerns clearly.
