Such a shame to see the decline
The lovely service from the dining room has gone and it looks like they have reduced the staff to a skeleton
House keeping also the same dirty bathroom in room then there was an ear bud on the stairwell that didn’t move all weekend
The enviroment is also going down hill carpets tapped together and other damage
Such a shame was a lovely hotel

Really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful hotel, such full of character and beauty throughout. Service was excellent and staff were very pleasant. Absolutely no negatives in this short break. Brilliant.

The whole Hotel is dated and dirty. Food is bland. Hotel room was very hot and radiator could not be adjusted. We will not stay there again until the owners do an upgrade.

This is not a four star hotel. It’s very tired and the staff looked very tired and stressed too. The fixtures and fittings are worn and cracked in the room, single glaze windows over a noisy road and busy car wash, Breakfast was an average offering. At check in after 3pm we had a long queue and we heard the person on reception whisper to their colleague ‘we don’t have any rooms ready’. I think the staff we met were doing their best but the whole place needs a reset and tidy up.

Online Booking and check in were easy and there is on site parking (for an extra charge) The hotel is large and has some very grand looking features, with a fascinating history well situated on the north shore with an easy walk or tram ride along the promenade.
The beds were comfortable, it was a budget room so we were at the side of the hotel towards the back, therefore only a view of the side street, could have been cleaner found long dark hairs in the bathroom and coffee cups hadnt been washed, also there was a musty smell in the room, there was a banging noise going on most of the night which kept us awake as if a door or window had been left open in an adjacent room.
We had an evening meal which was very nice, all staff were very pleasant
Breakfast was good, plenty of choice for hot and cold dishes, and staff were very nice.
Overall would probably stay there again but ask for a better room

We did have a pleasant day. The room is a bit outdated back in the 70s and unfortunately as well they don’t have really any disabled access rooms which is not ideal. I did ask him before arrival but I needed somewhere so I could have a shower put the room I had didn’t have a shower that I could get into and they did try to move it but unfortunately that room was also the same situation . However, we had a brilliant night sleep and the breakfast was really nice as well. There’s nothing to write home about but it’s a nice place and will return

Good, fresh breakfast selection. Room dated but all in a good, clean condition with a comfortable bed.

The bed was rock hard like concrete as were the pillows. There was a dirty sock left by the previous occupant under the chair. Curtains had dirty marks on them.
The staff at reception were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was ok

Very tired hotel. Needing a thorough refurbishment, but so unlikely to get one.
I won’t be returning, even though the room prices are very reasonable.

Room clean and everyone friendly
Negative was heating in the room turned off because engineer decided it was too warm. Not his choice to make. Hence room cold until complained and heating switched back on after 30minutes. In Winter heating should be guaranteed. Not first time its happened.

Suite and sour, we were originally booked into a deluxe double room with a sea view, but were given the option of a two room suite with separate bathroom for £40 per night extra, which We took. Fantastic sized rooms, but with very tired and worn out furnishings. Frayed curtains and sofa and chairs which looked like wicker conservatory furniture which might well been purchased from a charity furniture shop. Most of the windows were draught taped with black duct tape in a rather rough manner. For a premium room in what claims to be four star accommodation I find that to be unacceptable. However, the bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom basic but with a good working shower (over the bath), and two wash basins. (Why two?). The rooms were very clean, and a basic but reasonably appointed hospitality tray was supplied.
The food was good, I would say a talented chef working to a very tight budget, the desserts were particularly good. I noticed that since our last visit the offer of a dinner bread roll with the starter has ceased. (An indication of tough times perhaps?). The buffet breakfast was good, but let down by what looked like dried scrambled eggs and tinned mushrooms. The staff were on the whole very helpful and friendly. Overall I feel that this once grand and historical hotel has rather lost its way, and is in need of a much needed freshening up. I have stayed here 7 times now, and can feel it is not what it was when we first came to stay.

Staff could improve, especially in the bar. Receptionist was on her own, we reserved early booking in but took over 30 minutes with three people in front of us.

Nothing particular the stay was average the breakfast was poor and service exceptionally slow

Very grand and well maintained public areas. Usually have a nice stay here and have been a number of times. Bit underwhelmed this time. Given room facing nowhere other than a brick wall, bed rock hard, had to fold the duvet and sleep on one half of that, and mold evident in the bathroom. Entering or leaving hotel and you run the gauntlet of the chain smokers club hanging around the front door. Not quite sure this adds to the ambience in a positive way. Notwithstanding this, staff as ever lovely, and it is a grand, albeit fading, building in Blackpool, where to be fair, hotels are not really known for their luxury. Would i go back.. yeah i probably would, but certainly not my best trip and stay here.

The hotel is a very grand affair, but is in need of decorating throughout. The room was clean, but attention to detail could be better, there was a good layer of dust on the shaver socket in the bathroom. The breakfast was lovely and the dining room staff were also lovely, which made our stay!
