George & Dragon Pub

I had a great stay at The George and Dragon. It is a great pub for a beer and some food - the owner maria is very warm and friendly. My room was cosy and I felt very at home. the main areas in the city are all easily walkable from the location, too, and I had a great trip overall.

The only potential negative is a bit of noise - if you tend to go to bed early, there can be music from downstairs. It is a bar, though, so that's to be expected, however, if you explore the city a lot, like me, it probably won't be a problem anyway.

Room was very comfortable. I appreciated that there was coffee/tea and dishes available. The owner was very helpful.

I wasn't able to check in until 19:00, even though the listing says check in is from 16:00. Check in hours depend on the day and are linked to when the pub is open - check ahead of time if this matters for you.

I had no idea that the hostel is located above an Irish-style pub, and that was a delightful surprise. The room I had was on the 1st floor, but there was no noise from the pub downstairs even though they had a live Irish group of musicians playing. The room was big, the shared bathroom was clean and easily accessible, and the pub food+drink was excellent. The owner running the place is super nice, lots of fun to chat with over a beer, and just being able to sit in the pub in the evenings and meet the local people was awesome. I love this hostel!

The hostel is a short walk outside the city centre, so if you don’t like walking a bit, it might not be your cup of tea… however, there is a bus stop right outside the hostel and the tram to the airport is a 5-minute walk up the street.
