The hot tub, the brilliant location and Dorothy, the host, made great recommendations and really looked after us.

We could have used a larger mirror but that's it, every thing was amazing

Clean and well-maintained lodge with everything you need. We made our breakfast and some dinners there. Hot tub was an added bonus and was great! Nice to have the bathrobes and extra towels. Loved the view. Great also for bird-watching. Dorothy was also very friendly and helpful.

Bed is a small one for 2 people.

A lovely stay at Berstane Lodge Berstane Lodge is beautiful, log-cabin-style accommodation with a genuine sense of luxury. The beds were extremely comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped, and the quality linens and high-end finishes made the lodge feel particularly special. We thought it offered excellent value, especially given the standard of the accommodation and the added space of a living area, full kitchen and private hot tub. There were also lots of thoughtful extras, including milk, condiments and local produce, which were very much appreciated. The surrounding area is peaceful and attractive, with lovely countryside views that made the setting feel even more special. The owner was exceptionally friendly and kindly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. A warm, comfortable and beautifully appointed place to stay near Kirkwall.

The only very minor drawback was the lack of a dishwasher, which would have been a useful addition in such a well-equipped self-catering lodge. It was only a small inconvenience and certainly didn’t detract from an otherwise excellent stay.

An immaculate and new little pod in a nice location up a long hill. It was clean and new and I think it would be fine for people with cars who stay one or two nights. Not a week with bikes . It's out of the town and lovely and quiet. The owners were pleasant. The view was over the town and towards the west of Wideford hill.

This was pleasant but pricey for what it turned out to be. Not luxury..just a new pod with a jacuzzi. Nowhere to put your stuff....I wouldn't use the term luxury. No drawers, no underbed drawers, nothing except a coat space. I think the bed should be redesigned with underbed storage . Everything was on the floor..therefore you had to climb over your own stuff to get into the one sided double bed access. Not luxury. Same goes for the fully fitted kitchen....no storage space or prep space....only the fridge. All very new...just not luxury. Also the patio is NOT private. You can see the tractors and buses passing 50 metres across the field. You have to close your curtains to get changed. Once youve walked over the patio and in the jacuzzi water you are low enough not to be visible. Jacuzzi has to be left on all night .
