Amazing!

What a fantastic stay at Berstane Lodges. I have stayed in quite a few lodges and Berstane Lodges are top of the list. The lodge is larger than most you will see and this allows plenty room to move around. The mattress is really comfy and the heating is amazing. The shower is really powerful. Dorothy and Andy make the stay as very friendly and keen to ensure you have a fantastic stay. Highly recommend to anyone coming to Orkney, I stayed in the winter and the lodge was lovely and warm. The Hot tub was amazing with great views over Kirkwall.

Special place provided a memorable stay

I loved the clever, attractive, and comfortable design of our rental. The location is outside of the town center and has great views overlooking Kirkwall and of the sea. The hot tub was just what we needed after long sightseeing days.

Would prefer availability of ground coffee for the french press but we figured it out.

I'll not pay for that much again in a hurry 🤣

An immaculate and new little pod in a nice location up a long hill. It was clean and new and I think it would be fine for people with cars who stay one or two nights. Not a week with bikes . It's out of the town and lovely and quiet. The owners were pleasant. The view was over the town and towards the west of Wideford hill.

This was pleasant but pricey for what it turned out to be. Not luxury..just a new pod with a jacuzzi. Nowhere to put your stuff....I wouldn't use the term luxury. No drawers, no underbed drawers, nothing except a coat space. I think the bed should be redesigned with underbed storage . Everything was on the floor..therefore you had to climb over your own stuff to get into the one sided double bed access. Not luxury. Same goes for the fully fitted kitchen....no storage space or prep space....only the fridge. All very new...just not luxury. Also the patio is NOT private. You can see the tractors and buses passing 50 metres across the field. You have to close your curtains to get changed. Once youve walked over the patio and in the jacuzzi water you are low enough not to be visible. Jacuzzi has to be left on all night .

Perfect stay

We liked everything. The location was ideal for us. The pod was perfect, the hot tub fabulous. The treats were lovely when we arrived. Dorothy was very friendly and helpful. If we come back to Orkney this is where we will be staying.

An enjoyable relaxing stay.

It was very private. The owners left us some yummy food and milk which was a surprise. The bed was very comfortable and quiet even during a wild storm.

A very special stay for us,such a beautiful lodge,just perfect in every way ,

The lodges were perfect in every way,they were very clean and had everything that we needed ,very spacious and beautifully decorated, a short drive into Kirkwall. I messaged Dorothy prior to my stay regarding an iron and she very kindly made sure one was in the lodge for our arrival. Hot tub was lovely with a beautiful view.

A unique, fabulous place to stay when exploring the Orkneys.

The lodge was a fun, beautifully decorated place to stay. The hot tub was a big plus— it was wonderful to relax in it at night after walking around all day! Dorothy provided local snacks, which was a lovely extra touch.

The only inconvenience was that the internet was out.

Great stay

The Lodge was extremely comfortable and spacious, and very well equipped. The hot tub was lovely and Dorothy was very helpful in allowing us to store our bags after we'd checked out.

If you don't have a car it's a 30 min walk or 10 min bike ride into town centre

highly recommend! Wonderful accommodations, clean, easy check-in, fantastic location, great hosts. The lodge had gorgeous views and was a lovely place to come back to after a day of exploring. The hot tub was a perfect spot to watch the sunset over the water. Dorothy and Andy, the owners, were outstanding and very helpful. 10/10 all around. We can't wait to come back and stay there again!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay

So comfortable, well equipped and surprisingly spacious. Wonderful view over Kirkwall. Completely surpassed our expectations and we went thinking that it looked lovely. Warm and cosy during wind and rain too. Just perfect!

Berstane Lodge is a perfect base from which to explore Orkney.

The lodge is very well designed and equipped. Dorothy provides a welcome pack of milk, cheese, bread, butter, oatcakes and biscuits. There are toiletries in the bathroom. The bed is extremely comfortable and there are plenty of towels. The views from the lodge over Kirkwall are lovely, especially from the hot tub in the late evening. The lodge is situated on the edge of Kirkwall, at the top of a hill with fields behind and in front so it felt very rural and peaceful but you could walk into town in twenty minutes (you may need to take a bus or taxi up again though!). The adjacent lodge is separated by a grassy bank and a large parking area on either side so it feels very private. Dorothy is a very welcoming host with great local knowledge. I highly recommend a stay here.

Another hook in the bathroom for hanging a second bath towel to dry would be handy but not essential.

Fabulous!

This was a perfect stay for us. Dorothy was very welcoming, kept in touch before our arrival and came to see us when we got there to make sure we had settled in. She gave us helpful hints for a great stay. The lodge was very well equipped and was beautiful. The addition of the hot tub was perfect and towels, robes and slippers were provided. We would definitely recommend these lodges.

Just a great experience that exceeded all possible expectations.

Great location on the outskirts of Kirkwall. Dorothy was just an outstanding hostess!! She greeted us and made us feel at home. She then helped us find information about a family member that we had tried to find at the library (also her suggestion). When she shared the information with us it was an emotional moment for us, AND for her!! She was just a kind, caring, and wonderful person throughout our time there!! The cabin, or pod, or bungalow (we debated this with Dorothy), whatever you choose to call it was in immaculate condition. The kitchen was fully appointed and Dorothy set us up with Milk, cheese, butter, and biscuits, which were a great help since we arrived on the late ferry. The bed was very comfortable. Parking and ease of access were excellent. We could not have been happier!!

Relaxing, luxury break.

Beautiful accommodation. Clean, and the host, Dorothy, was very friendly. There were lots of small touches (bread, cheese, butter, milk, and biscuits provided) which were greatly appreciated after our day of traveling to get there. Location was perfect. Amazing views.

A little piece of paradise on Orkney!

Absolutely fabulous! A really special place, overlooking Kirkwall and walking distance from the centre. We were on Orkney with our bicycles and Berstane Lodges was a perfect base for our 4 night stay. The hot tub was a perfect way to start each evening. The welcome treats left by our wonderful host were perfect too.
