A good place if have to get to airport early.
The grounds and house are very cool.
Felt a bit like an abandoned old house where leftover furniture is stored.

I thought the host Gerrard was a gentleman, runs a great operation and deserves the place booked out all the time. The continental breakfast was fantastic

Pleasant Stay for the short time I was there.
That antique rustic vibe is appealing and there is character to the house that I like. My bedroom was pleasant. Heating during the night was nice, feeling of warmth while staying in an old style House. Geard is a nice accommodating host whom you could speak to for a long time. This house is close to a nearby town Kinnegad which is good, as just incase I needed essentials or something to eat, the town was close by. The price is fair and the house sits in an area surrounded by touristy towns, so it’s a great location for being close by to these touristy towns.
The house has a lot of potential but it needs a spring clean and some upgrades; floors not washed, dirty dishes left to the side in the small foyer near to my bed which was not nice to see, cupboards dirty as I was afraid to pick up a clean plate. The breakfast was stale and basic, signs of mould to the wheaten bread. Health hazards to be honest for these points. Pot holes to the entrance of the house needs filling in. More care and attention is needed to the house which shouldn’t cost much, or needing more effort because even, yes, the price is good for the stay and the breakfast with having your own room but I have stayed in hostels before (sharing rooms) which cost less where they are much tidier, clean and people have a better hygiene at hostels.

A nightmare
Nothing we left it after half an hour because impossible to stay
Room dirty with webs, dust and insects, beds unstable and Remade bed with corner sheets that should go as a mattress cover above the bed, room without working heating and the same for the dilapidated bathroom

Awful!
This is not a room fit for rental. We arrived at 5PM after prior arrangement with owner. He told us to go into town and come back at 7PM. We had already driven 3 hours to stay here! Room was not fit for purpose. The room was full of blue bottle flies. We had one camp bed that colapsed when sat on. We were too late to leave and find suitable accomodation. In the morning the electricity was off. No hot water for showers and no breakfast. We paid for B&B for 2 adults & 2 children. We did not sleep due to the state of the room with flies buzzing around all night. We should have walked out but had already paid through bookings.com.
Property not fit for purpose. Bedroom full of blue bottle flies. Room not clean. Bed broken. No electricity. No hot water. No breakfast.

Central, cozy, amazing host
Kiltubber House was a wonderful and cozy place. Big garden, central, good sized rooms and confortable beds. The breakfast was always big and fresh, and if you needed something, Gerard brought it to you. Gerard the host was amazing and we had a very good time together chatting, making plans on where to go or playing cards togehter in the evening. We felt like we were at home and we are going to miss him and his house. It was an amzing vacation there. Thank you Gerard for this experience and your kindness:) Yasmin from Germany
I have no points to criticize. It was better than we hoped for.

Awesome host, awesome location to drive to different points of the island!
I loved the aesthetic of the place and really the vibe of the place! There’s a small town nearby but there isn’t much else around unless you are driving. The host had INCREDIBLE recommendations and honestly, my trip would have not been the same unless he had given me recommendations on where to go and which places were overrated. He was also incredibly friendly to me and incredibly generous in asking me how I was finding my stay and such in the mornings.

Bed was comfortable. It was quiet.
No wardrobe in room. No TV or tea-making facilities. No hand wash, or showering accessories available in bathroom.

Better than expected
Location was great for my needs, you get what you pay for and for 2 people getting a bit of breakfast too we got more than the rate cost Gerard was so helpful and pleasant, myself and my oldest son had a good conversation over breakfast with him. I will definitely be going back when working in that area.
For the sake of the property rooms should be charged by the person, I feel if someone on their own was to book paying the same rate isn't fair. This is not something to be held against the hotel rather the bookings.com booking method.

A very nice hotel with its old furniture, its own soul that made us feel like home. And Gerard is a vey kind and caring host.

A homely B&B
The host was very friendly and lovely to chat with and had a real homely feeling to the place. We stayed here as a stop after a long day before heading to the coast which was perfect for what we needed

A treasure just one hours drive from the airport.
Gerard, the owner, is a very kind and likable gentleman, easy to talk to. In fact I appreciated the fact that he was present for example to greet me at arrival - compared to other places that leave you the key in a locker…
The house has a special charm. The building as well as the furniture is not modern but seemingly all from the same era and l loved it. Look at the photos and you know what I’m talking about.
Also, I especially loved the long driveway up to the house with trees and the lawn left and right and not to forget the rabbits that seem to quite like it there. Hope lovely is that?!
My bed was comfortable - for me that’s always the most important… Would I stay there again? Definitely!
During my stay there was trouble with the shower in my room, but Gerard fixed it and in the meantime there was another shower I could use. So all good.

Book a family room. Told there was 3beds ,flat screen TV and own bathroom with jacuzzi bath ensuite.
What we got was a tiny room, with shared bathroom.
When I asked the owner about it, I was told ,if I don't like it, give up the room and leave! Terrible service, terrible place, unclean, terrible staff

Great spot for a change of scene, very welcoming of young children
Location was great and Gerard was very friendly and helpful. Rain shower was an unexpected bonus! My kids loved watching the rabbits run around the lawn
The king size bed was two single mattresses put together so there was a ridge in the middle between them. Place could have been tidier (a lot of cobwebs and dust) but hard to expect more for the price we paid!

Accommodation misrepresentation
The location is beautiful. Wild bunnies hopped around the house.
I booked and paid for two separate rooms for two families, but we were placed in just one. On the day of arrival, the host messaged us saying Room 1 was prepared, ignoring my earlier message where I clearly stated we needed two rooms. In the morning, I brought it up again, and he simply said he was sorry but did what was more convenient for him.
The room had only one bathroom and multiple mismatched beds. One of them wasn’t even a real bed—just a folding cot placed in the room. Another bed was literally falling apart: the slats kept collapsing whenever our child tried to lie down, making it nearly impossible to rest.
The whole place felt more like visiting someone’s grandmother’s house than a proper B&B. The bedding was random, the furniture mismatched, and the overall setup felt chaotic.
Breakfast was terrible—poor quality, not enough food, and what was served (like the bread and croissants) was rock hard. The host served it silently and disappeared, never asking if we needed anything. Utensils and dishes were all from different sets, just like everything else.
Overall, the experience was disappointing. The host was distant, unhelpful, and didn’t even greet us properly in the morning. The service and hospitality didn’t meet even the most basic standards.

Perfect place to write a crime fiction novel.
I loved that it has character. It was different from any place I’ve been to, but I think that’s what made it great.
It could’ve been a tad cleaner.

Oldie world style hotel
Nice location just out of village centre. Room had modern ensuite and breakfast was served from 7.00am which was good for me as I needed to be on site early. Some furnishings are a bit dated but this is not a brand new hotel. I will stop there again when in the area.

Poor experience
Close proximity to Dublin
Very poorly maintained property. Floors creaked as you walk. Rooms smelled bad with dust and mould on windows. Bathroom sink overflowing. Rotten fruits served at breakfast and cracked cutleries.

perfect stopover on the Athlone - Dublin Greenway
Cycling the Greenway from Athlone (or Longford) to Dublin the place is a perfect halfway stopover. It offers generous bicycle storage, which also is ideal for servicing the bikes if necessary. The property itself is a bit of a rough gem, but whatever shortcomings you may notice will surely be compensated by the owner’s hospitality and the hearty breakfast.
