Lovely building, good location, staff very friendly. Spotlessly clean.
This is only a personal choice but would have liked a TV in the room.

The staff was very kind and friendly. The room was spacious and newly furnished.
Probably, a bit smell of waste water.

The building was magnificent once you found your way into the hotel. It’s a little inconspicuous from the outside.
Certain things niggled me such as the light switch to the bathroom was hidden behind the bedstead. No side table to put your water or phone on. I had to place it on the water cup on the floor which I knocked over in the morning.

Very clean. Large room. Friendly welcoming staff.
It was expensive for what it was. The room was comfortable but rather plain. The bathroom was quite basic with a basic shower and lukewarm water. No frills.

We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we wanted to head straight into town.
The water pressure in the shower wasn't great but the bathroom was clean and spacious and warm.

Staff was lovely, helped with the bags and booked a taxi for us.

It looked recently refurbished so looked good and clean. Location was also a short walk to the theatre which was the reason why we went to Oxford.
Staff weren’t helpful when we asked for help with parking. Gave me a scripted response. When I asked to speak to a human, they stopped responding altogether and ignored me. Shower pressure was extremely poor and the radiator made a very loud noise, twice in the middle of the night which woke us up.

Great location
Easy check in
Great size room
Large bathroom
Close to park and ride bus stop

Nothing not to like, just no TV which didn't bother us.

We had a deluxe double and it was lovely. Clean and comfortable. No TV or parking, but we knew that. Grounds were well maintained and beautiful to walk around
No TV, no biscuits, Cafe left a lot to be desired. Could be a little gold mine, , but I'm sure it will be improved

Nice building, good location. Bed was comfy. Staff were friendly.
The room smelt of sewage. It helped when I shut the bathroom door. But it was still noticeable even when the door was shut. Friend who was staying next door to me also had the issue.

Great location, beautiful building, friendly staff
No television in room, very noisy in room, woken 3x by other guests or staff moving around outside our room (room 3).

an extra easy chair in the room would have been nice

Lovely building and nice room - slightly dated and lack of amenities considering the price (no TV, kettle, access to control heating, toiletries, robes).
We stayed on 22nd November, which coincided with “Queer Fest” — a concert at Wadham College (around a 5-minute walk from Rhodes House). Unfortunately, it was extremely loud, with bass so strong that the windows and furniture in our room physically vibrated.
We checked in around 4pm while the sound check was happening. It was already disruptive, but we assumed it would be finished by the time we returned from our evening plans. Instead, the noise continued until after midnight and seemed to get louder as the night went on.
I asked reception around 10:30pm if we could move to a quieter room (ours was directly opposite the concert site). The staff were dismissive, said the music would stop by 11pm, and offered no alternative. In the end, the music carried on more than an hour beyond what we were told, leaving us stuck in our room, unable to sleep, and wishing we could relocate.
While I understand the event itself wasn’t organised by the hotel, I would have appreciated being informed at booking that a major outdoor concert was scheduled. Had I known, I would have chosen a different date or location. For such a premium hotel, the lack of sound-proofing and the absence of any mitigation made the experience really disappointing.
Overall, the noise completely ruined what was meant to be a special first visit to Oxford. I would strongly advise future guests to check whether nearby events are taking place, as our room offered no protection from the sound.

It was close proximity to Natural History Museum, we were attending a wedding there. Also was in a good location for colleges and city centre.

Beautifully clean, exceptionally appointed.

Excellent location
Water pressure in shower was awful - I could not have rinsed my hair properly for example. Only place to hang clothing was one hook on bedroom door. Since we were attending a posh event and had appropriate clothing this was a pain.

Location, Building from outside
no wardrobe, 3 coat hook but no more knobs -> all out cloth gad to stay in the suitcase, no space to put towels in the bathroom, very small bed size, no tv, Elevator didn‘t work (employee offered help, no complain here)

What a find! What a great location... super comfortable room with a lovely college atmosphere. Friendly helpful staff. Perfect in every way and superb value.
Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful building and location within walking distance to all the sites. Info sent ahead of arrival suggesting travel options was really helpful. Lighting in the bathroom was really good and manned 24 hrs so not locked out if arriving late. Bed was comfy and clean, staff were very friendly and helpful.
Couldn't get one of my windows shut, old so perhaps rusted which meant radiatior was on full blast to combat any draft. I wasn't cold but noise from the cafe below in the mornings then also came through very easily.

Central, beautifully decorated hotel in the center of Oxford.
A bit bare bones, no breakfast, no toiletries, no hangout places. But not a surprise, was all clear from the start!

Gorgeous building. Willing staff. Perfect location
Pictures on booking.com are only if the superior suites. Our room was perfectly adequate but not what we anticipated.
No parking in Oxford (understandably) so that needs to be stated too.

The location is good, and the room is spacious, clean and all the furniture is substantial.
When we arrived the room had full heating on (in August) but there is no way to cool the room down besides opening the front door. The seal around the front door was broken so insects and spiders were coming in. One of the only two plug sockets near the bed was broken. Considering the price (over £200/night), the amenities were disappointing - no TV, nothing but a kettle and coffee pod machine. The room was also next to what we assume was the pump room, so the constant drone meant we struggled to sleep. It's a shame, the location is good and the room is pretty, but we would have had a similar, if not better, experience in a Travelodge for half the price.

The location is excellent for exploring Oxford. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. I would stay here again and would recommend it to any one looking for a central location to explore Oxford.

Would have been better if there had been cereal available for breakfast and a little more choice ( like a warm croissant/ toast)although Aboss was very friendly and helpful .
Annie was very kind and helpful. The cameras are great, Annie saw I was struggling outside and came to my aid. Thank you.
TV in the room, & maybe a biscuit to be available with the tea? Breakfast to be served an extra half hour later perhaps with more availability of a hot sandwich such as bacon.
A later check out such as 11 .

Good location amongst the main Oxford colleges, walking distance to shops, restaurants. Beautiful side garden.
We were there during the heat wave, no aircon, only a tiny desk fan. Originally the room did not have refrigerator, however, the staff brought us a small refrigerator for our drinks. Elevator was not working.

Extremely clean and comfortable. Compact but well appointed and practical. Beautiful grounds surrounding the building. Tables and chairs in the pretty outdoors garden space. Lovely, friendly staff
Shower pressure very low.
Loud, on and off hum of a nearby ventilation system or something - audible across the top floor. Nothing the staff could do about it. Got used to it in the end

Good location and breakfast. The house was interesting.
Third floor room without a working lift!! Impossible for a couple of 83 and 86. The replacement room was warm and the open window exposed us to a permanently working machine. No single duvet. Second double duvet provided was a thick winter one... In the morning we discovered that the heating was on!

I stayed first in the main building which I loved- the room was cozy and lovely with beautiful windows and a great bed and good bathroom. Afterwards I stayed down stairs, which has a good, clean big space, great bed and nice big bathroom- room was a bit dark . The cafe is very nice .
The downstairs rooms are a little dark, and my door lock was broken but lovely rhodes house ofcourse feels like a very secure place so I was not worried

Beautiful building and it was lovely to stay in amongst history. Great location and good value for an Oxford stay.
Only negative was the carpet in the bedroom was very stained, it looked as though an iron had been dropped and there was large brown patches.
5.0 / 10.0
The Building was elegant.
Initially one of the Receptionist entered the hotel about a metre in front of us and let the door close in our face. The room was tiny with less than 50cm clearance from the bottom of the bed. I mentioned when booking that my wifr was celebrating her 65th birthday; most hotels usually leave a small token, but nothing here.
