Ella Family House

We booked this place at the last minute as we decided to stay in Ella an extra night. It was a rest decision! Shakila was so helpful and kind and the family apartment (it’s not really a room as there is a door in between bedrooms) was superb. The meal Shalika cooked for us was the best meal we have had in Sri Lanka and she was so helpful in helping us get to see the Perahera. Shalika also runs a cookery school, which we would have loved to sound we hadn’t already done this in Ella. If you arr thinking of doing a cookery class. Do it here! We highly recommend.

There was nothing to dislike.

The rooms were clean, spacious and had air con. The bathroom was clean with good water pressure. 4 of us easily fit in this room with all of our suitcases. Bottled water was unlimited and we had a fridge. The host was very kind and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We also used the laundry service and had the clothes back the same day.

It was about 2km outside of Ella town. However tuktuks were readily available for transport, and the stay was quiet and peaceful.

The family running the place were delightful, meeting us on arrival and showing us the room. The room was large and plenty of room for our party of 4. breakfast was great and we even got some local recommendations. It's not right in Ella, just a few minutes drive away, and this is what we wanted, as we liked being around nature and Tea plantations.
