Room was nice size, shower brilliant, bed really comfy had really good night sleep, lady who done check in was lovely and friendly. Dogs very welcome.
Outside of property is awful. Inside ( hallways) and outside needs revamp. Would put people off.
Room 2 has fire escape stairs directly outside window, which people use, no idea why but meant had to keep curtains closed and their steps were VERY noisy.

Location good, En-suite New
The one member of staff we saw was very polite and tried to assist when requested
Dog Friendly
Stairs, Had to go out to find food, no bar, no restaurant, you get a kettle and microwave with 3 coffee waiting all day for extra! Bed uncomfortable and small!
Needs a lot of work

Location was excellent. Room was comfortable if a little spartan. The shower was excellent. Communication with hosts was very good.
Got woken in the early hours by fellow guests talking on the landing.

Easy access to where we needed to be. Central to shops. Quiet even on busy street. Parking at the area not too bad, especially after 6pm.
Could glimpse river through flats opposite.
Reasonably priced for stay.
Bathroom looked newly renovated.
Had to request extra tea/coffee /milk.
Although provided had to request by phone so felt as if we were intruding, but if extra had been left originally then it would have been okay.
Windows stiff to open /close.
No lift to room.
Radiator didn't work but didn't report as weather wasn't too cold.

Terrible wifi. If wifi is essential for you, you will be disappointed

Large room and bed, kettle in room, large shower
It is not called the river side rooms at all but is an old fairly run down hotel building with a completely different name, no staff on site and just kept calling all the time for help in taxi.no one picks up for ages

We weren't informed there was a live band performing until 1.20am which was loud even in our room. When other guests returned to the hotel they were moving noisily between rooms, banging doors and chatting loudly until 4am.

Lovely place as a base, lovely welcome - we have stayed a few times now, tv, coffee, lovely en suite, on the bus route -
It’s great value so for the price there is nothing wrong - we will go back !

Very friendly staff, the room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Location is really good for access to the city. Plenty of parking available too.

Comfy bed and great shower
Cobwebs and crumbs on the carpet

Not much at all. Tea and coffee
Filthy carpets on stars. Mould and broken door in bathroom. My daughters tv wasn't working. Stains on wall. Filthy around windows
4.0 / 10.0
Clean sheets, towels and bathroom
Good sized duvet, good pillows
Good shower and water pressure
There was complimentary coffee and a kettle and microwave, but no spoons or mugs plates or cutlery
The room smelled of smoke and cooking smell from the kitchen, which periodically wafted in from under the room door throughout the evening.
The carpet land windows looked dirty and the closing mechanism on the windows was broken
There was only one very tired chair, with torn and scuffed faux leather seat
Free WiFi was included, but we did not receive any WiFi code or connection password
The mattress was very soft and at the end of its lifetime
We knew it would be basic, but that was disappointingly below basic. 4/10 max

The room was as if in a regular hotel in terms of bed linen, towels etc, cleanliness, appliances, TV, electric kettle, tea, coffee etc.
I guess there wasn't enough space in the room to put in a desk.

Above a pub and was noisy. Some loud music playing to 00:50. The room was extremely hot no aircon or fan and couldn't have windows open as on a busy main road.

Staff were very pleasant on being informed that we would arrive later than planned.
There was a fan in case we needed it.
The return key box could have been more obvious. We didn't spot it.
No staff around when we left around 8am.

First of all I would like to send huge messages of good luck to the new proprietors of Bitterne Park Hotel as they go about trying to bring an established, extensive Victorian iconic building back to former glories. Of course there is a hell of a work to be done which is going to take money, expertise, time and a lot of patience but the potential is there to future proof the structure and create something that will be admired in 100 years time.
It was interesting to stay in such a building complete with views to the Itchen River. (Close to Bitterne Station and Bus Stops) The number 14 goes straight to the Utilita Bowl! The Shower was superb as was the new carpet in the room.
While the low price reflects work needed to be done staying here does come with the odd challenge. The disco is quite loud at weekends and it can reverberate. If I were managing the joint I would clean up the flat roof outside number 5 (bottles fag butts and rubbish) and have a good go at cleaning all the windows. They need some elbow grease!

Riverside Rooms was in an ideal location for us the night before boarding our cruise.
Room was specious and basic.
We asked the staff for additional milk, sugar and pillows and they were very friendly and accommodating.
The parking to the front of the rooms is rather confusing as limited times started on all the signage, but we parked at the front of the pub, after checking it was okay with the bar staff.
The bar adjoining the Riverside Rooms had an evening DJ who played until the early hours of the morning, not ideal for us after a long days travel ahead of our cruise the following day.
Whilst my partner was brushing his teeth, the pipe at the back of the sink started leaking and we had water all over the floor. We reported this to the staff asap.
Linen and towels were clean but floor appeared to be un-hoovered as there were dead flowers on the floor.

Bathroom was clean and spacious
No hairdryer available until asked.no milk and coffee cups .both windows broken, couldn't shut either. Toilet roll holder loose on wall. Wall above bed had flakes of plaster/paint falling off onto bed and surrounding area. Under bed was dirty, tissues and dust. Bathroom sink plug was stuck so couldn't empty sink. No view as windows were too high as described in the sight .This was room 9. Couldn't swing a cat in there. Not sure what other rooms were like. Extremely hot and uncomfortable to sleep. Mattress needs updating.
Restaurant downstairs ( lots of stairs to climb) had a menu for Jamaican food only. Although this was good, the tables were sticky and our food was not ordered correctly but was rectified in the end. Pleasant staff tho. Limited choice of restaurant in area.

Bedding and towel seemed new and comfortable. Bathroom appears to be relatively newly refurbished. The brew area in the room was useful.
The hotel is called Bitterne park hotel and there is no reference anywhere to it being riverside rooms, other than on booking.com. on arrival, unsure if I was in the correct place, a guy that was drinking beer and playing cards next to the reception desk asked if I was staying there, he asked my name, then reached behind the counter, opened an envelope with my name on and told me where my room is. He told me he did not work there. He was very helpful, but I did not feel safe knowing anyone could just grab the room keys, especially as the lock to my door was loose and the catch on the door didn't work to lock the door - I just had to rely on the fact the door was closed to stop anyone coming in. I didn't feel safe leaving things in the room. The front door was open when I got back at 2am and I never saw a staff member during my stay. I did easily find a parking space, but despite torrential rain all night, my car was absolutely covered in thick brown animal feaces when I returned to it in the morning. Neither of my room windows shut properly (the handle wasn't attached to one), the bathroom door handle didn't work, so if I closed the door properly it may not have opened again and the room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke.

The room was very clean and bed and pillows very comfortable, the on suite was newly furbished and was above expectation for the price paid. We ordered our evening meal in the bar the food was presented extremely well on a nice hot plate in a timely manner the food was delicious.
The ceiling of the room was losing plaster which needs attending to. The room could have also benefited from a couple of bedside tables.

We were given the family room with a double and two singles, additionally equipped with a fridge, microwave and hot plate. It was very spacious, we did not feel like we were squeezed in together at all. There was even a good sized table with 4 chairs, wardrobe, chest of drawers and yet still felt comfortable and not overcrowded. Lovely room, light and airy. The shower is amazing, so great value for money.
We were above the speaker from the bar below so you can hear the beats from the music but, it wasn’t a massive issue however if you want peace and quiet/sensitive to noise or, have young children, this place may not be for you.

We travelled for a county darts venue which was great and the accommodation was just on the door step which was also great as when we got to our accommodation it was just walking distance away with plenty of places to eat.
Our room was nice and roomy but maybe a couple of bedside cabinets and a couple of chairs with small table would be an asset to the room.

Overall areas were not clean. Although the room wasn’t bad really.

The bed was comfortable and the shower hot
It was so cold . The heating was barely on and it was very uncomfortable . Later provided with an electric heater which made only a little difference .
Poorly maintained building in many ways
