Many thanks for your hospitality last night. Our room was absolutely lovely, so comfortable and such a great nights sleep
BUT…. We were seriously disappointed with the food and the choice available… this was our 4th visit and we were looking forward to the Pie of the Day which had ALWAYS been steak and ale on our previous visits. Imagine our surprise that the “Pie of the Day” was in fact a Cottage Pie!! Which is NOT A PIE BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION!!! Pies traditionally have a pastry or suet crust
This left us having to choose something else….. your menu was absolutely poor for valentines evening!!! The haddock was lovely as were the onion rings but everything else lacked your usual standards!!! The chilli lacked mince!!! And rice appeared packet microwaved!!! And was thoroughly tasteless!!! So so so very very disappointing after our previous visits. We won’t be returning and everyone we’ve strongly recommended that they visit will be now told not to bother

We are in the restaurant and the food was incredible, the steak was cooked to perfection! The room was exceptionally clean and so comfy! I would definitely stay here again!

Location was great for visiting family and in a very quiet area. We had a single and double room. Both were a good size and nicely decorated and very clean. Milk in bottles were provided and also nice biscuits. Nice toiletries were available including hair conditioner which has not always been given at some places I've stayed in. The beds were very comfortable. It was a very hot night and fans were in the room which was great as it helped stay cool enough to sleep.
The floor was squeaky in the single room. Not an issue for the person using the room but it could disturb others if they heard someone walking across the floor during the night.
The en suite in the double had a bath, not a stand in shower. I much prefer a shower and although the bath had a hand held shower tap it's not the same kneeling in the bath showering yourself down! Also the door was a sliding barn style door which did not fully close, there was a gap between the door edge and door frame when the door was closed and I felt it did not give enough privacy. It was ok in the single but I would prefer fully closed door there with a partner.
