Just such a stunning location and beautiful lodge to stay in
Nothing left in the lodge like a little bit of tea and coffee and oil - I guess I just usually find a few bits left in a holiday cottage but this time we had to go and get everything. No big deal though. Just different

The location was stunning, I've never had a view like that from my window before, one direction looking down towards Glencoe and the other up Loch Linnhe, it was beautiful. Esther met us on arrival and gave us some good recommendations for things to do, which we took her up on a local restaurant and a walk round Glencoe Lochan. The Lodge was lovely, lots of hot water and the beds were really comfy. We loved our stay and we would definitely go back!
Being the middle of February, the house was on the cold side. We had to have the heaters on all the time, and even then it never felt cosy. But the large windows mean any sunshine will heat the place right up, and I don't imagine it would be a problem the rest of the year.

Wow, from the hosts, to the cottage to the location. The cottage is located in a beautiful setting, peaceful surroundings with stunning views of the mountains and the loch. The cottage is warm and cosy and is well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The views from the living room and bedroom are amazing. It is perfectly located for those who want to explore the highlands with easy reach to all the “must visit” places and beyond. Access to a sauna on site is also a brilliant addition. Esther and Nick were wonderful hosts they accomplished the guest to have a ‘home away from home’ experience. Welcoming and always willing to help and suggest something new to explore. We will be coming back for sure ourselves and recommend it to anyone who is travelling to the highlands.

Our stay was absolutely incredible! The cabin is beautiful, with stunning views. The owners are amazing—so kind and helpful, giving us great tips. Everything was spotless, the kitchen fully equipped, and the cabin super cozy and warm, perfect for winter days. The location is ideal for exploring the Highlands. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

One of the best stays in my life. Stunning lake and mountain view. So peaceful and calm. Great place to relax and recharge. In my own opinion this place is even more picturesque than famous Glencoe. The cabin is spacious and perfectly equipped.

We loved our stay in Ash cabin which was cozy, spotlessly clean had everything we could possibly have needed and was in the most stunning setting. Beside the Loch was easy to find with the directions provided and was a great base for exploring the area. We only managed a brief hello with Ester but she was lovely, friendly and welcoming and has also been very helpful with information prior to our arrival.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Beside the Loch and hope to visit again as our trip to the Highlands wan't nearly long enough.

What a fantastic place to stay! We (family of 4 with 2 teenagers) stayed for 3 nights, and wish we could have stayed longer. The cabins are comfy, the views are amazing, and there's lots of wild bunnies roaming the grounds (we learned a group of wild bunnies is called a fluffle, awww). Esther and Nick were the kindest hosts, always ready to help and with great suggestions on activities. Highly highly recommended stay!

We loved the beautiful cabin right next to the loch! The big windows let us enjoy a magnificent view of the loch and surrounding highlands. Outside, bunnies were grazing the green grass. Inside, we found everything you need in a household.
There’s also a laundry facility with two washers and one dryer as well as a clothing heating rack and shoe heating rack after rainy days.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful whenever we had questions. We followed some of their recommended hikes and loved it! We hope we will be back in the future!

What a brilliant place to stay! The location is absolutely stunning, and the views across the loch and back to the mountains are spectacular and ever changing as the weather moves in and out.
Nick and Esther were really friendly and welcoming right from the outset and gave us loads of information on local walks and cycle routes, places to eat and visit (Followed up with an email as there was so much to take in 😀). One of their boys came up once we were settled in and took our boys out on their bikes to explore, giving us a moment to grab a coffee and enjoy the view - bliss.
Getting out on the SUP’s and paddling around was good fun - the water temperature was ‘refreshing’ but not an issue.
Catching the ferry across to Ardgour for Pizza Night was a top tip and a great way to spend a Friday evening.
We had a great time at Beside the Loch and have already recommended to friends. We’ll definitely be back to explore the area a bit more.

The property itself was small, cosy, and just perfect for a relaxing getaway. It was spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed to feel right at home. There was a lovely sense of warmth and simplicity that added to the charm of the whole experience.

A well designed and very clean two bedroom, one bathroom cabin/cottage at Onich Loch-side with excellent self-catering/kitchen facilities, comfortable lounge room & sensational picture window views of the Glencoe mountains and Loch Linne. Absolutely perfect accommodation for a couple or small family who can relax and enjoy the exquisite views and/or take to the endless walking trails around the Loch and up through the Glencoe Glen. A superb restaurant nearby and a cafe and Co-op in the beautiful nearby village of Ballachulish. A short drive to Fort William for all other supplies and the gateway to mountain adventures and walking on Ben Nevis.
A top interest for us is the history of Scotland and the geo-history of the Scottish Highlands, the super volcanoes and glacial valleys of the Glencoe Mountains and some of the best geology and landscapes in the world in the Lochaber Geopark. The excellent Cabins on the Loch at Onich are perfect to base an exploration of the Highlands.
Hosts Esther and Nick made our visit really extra special - wonderfully welcoming, super friendly and amazingly helpful with guidance, information and history on the many must-see nature and geotourism highlights in this special part of the Scottish Highlands: the UNESCO Lochaber Geopark and Glencoe Museum; the Glencoe Mountains and u-shaped glacial valleys - combining geology with dramatic hikes and climbs; Ben Nevis and the All a' Mhuilinn Path (North Face) - ancient volcano (~400 million years ago) with a classic caldera collapse, granite intrusions, and volcanic ring faults and amazing trails and climbs; Glen Roy and the Parallel Roads where Charles Darwin studied the geological history; the Strontian Mine; and the ancient volcanic ring structures of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula
A 10 out of 10 stay!
A 7 day stay at Onich was not enough - plan to immerse yourself for at least two weeks in this magical part of Scotland!
