★★★★½ Durmitor Nature is a small guesthouse — three rooms, a shared bathroom, and a kitchen come dining area — and it's one of the quieter, more restful places I've stayed. If you're coming to Žabljak to decompress and get away from the noise of the road, this is the right choice. It's a big part of why I extended my stay. The hosts are genuinely among the kindest people you could hope to meet. They clean thoroughly every day and have a lovely awareness of your space — constantly apologising for needing to clean if you are there. I stayed in two different rooms over my time there. My favourite was the twin room tucked up in the gables on the side of the house — quieter than the rest of the house, with a side window that's just gorgeous to sit beside on a slow day. The downstairs room is larger, with a queen bed and a couch, but sound carries around the house so it's noticeably less peaceful. Worth keeping in mind when you book. The kitchen prep area is a little snug if more than one person is cooking at the same time, but perfectly fine for a solo traveller or a couple. The damp bathroom smell that other reviews mention is really only an issue if people leave the hallway door open and the window shut — keep those the right way round and there's no problem. Practicalities: the bus station is a few minutes away and the town centre about ten. And a couple of local tips worth passing on — skip the Voli supermarket in town which gets swamped with tourists and queues; the Aroma just around the corner is far better. And use Google Maps to find the back route to the start of the forest walk down to the Black Lake — much easier than the obvious way. All in all, well worth every penny. I'd stay again in a heartbeat. Good to know: request one of the twin rooms for maximum quiet. Aroma supermarket around the corner beats the Voli in town.
