A lovely cottage that is cold and with rude staff

Lovely renovated cottage in the centre of Tideswell

If you like your host controlling the thermostat remotely and having it set to only 12 degrees at night then this is the place to book. The thermostat automatically turns down to 12 degrees if you dont keep moving about as well. No wood for the log burner is provided. There is a shop a short walkaway where you can buy logs and kindling- it was about £33 so I would get your own before arrival. In summary, a beautiful cottage but it feels like the owners focus is on managing their costs above anything else. Host was also quite rude

Relaxing in a comfy cottage with gorgeous views.

A picture perfect cottage in the lovely village of Tideswell. Jenni the owner was fantastic, sending all the details we needed and was very helpful when I forgot a bag and had to return to pick it up! The cottage is very comfy and clean with all the bits and bobs you need for a stay, parking is right outside and everything is just a few minutes walk from the cottage. Tideswell has a Co-op, greengrocers, Tideswell Lounge cafe, bakery, chip shop, pubs, Italian restaurant, Merchants Yard restaurant and a superb second hand bookshop. We had a very comfy stay and would definitely recommend and book Bobbin Cottage again.

Absolutely amazing 2nd stay!

We love staying at this property. It gives us a real home from home feel. The location is fantastic for walks and local pubs visits.

Had a really lovely stay.

It was cosy and lovely and warm. It was very clean with all the facilities you needed. It was a great location, lovely views and lots of natural light.

I didn’t like the fact when I booked through Booking.com I thought the price included my dog as I had selected this option. It wasn’t until the joining instructions came through I was told to leave £30 for the dog stay. A few tiny niggles, stair light bulbs not working, no start up logs left, the button for the toilet flush sticks. Although the inside was extremely clean the outside wasn’t, upon arrival the bin was over flowing and a very full recycling bin. The front patio area was covered with twigs and weeds.

A most enjoyable and comfortable stay in a sweet little cottage with real character

the cottage was very attractive, in a good location with nice view. It was light and very well appointed. It was quiet and we appreciated having a reserved parking space.

Lighting in living room made it very hard to read in the evening. The shower tray took an age to drain away and it made it impossible for 2 people to shower one after the other. The water almost came over the top of the tray every time the shower was used and so the floor was in danger of flooding. I did leave a note to report this as the matter needed investigating.

Beautiful

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful quiet location, it’s very cosy and has plenty of space and very comfortable. Access is tight and hard to find at first due to small tight roads but had parking directly out front which was free throughout our stay which was a treat to come and leave and still have a place to park when we returned.

Nothing really it was a great place to stay just be aware not for the feint or unconfident drivers as the roads are hilly and very tight but accessible just hold your breath!

Relaxing retreat in a gorgeous small village

We had a wonderful weekend in the house which is perfectly located - the village pub and coffee house within walking distance. The cottage is well equipped and perfect for stays with dogs.

Lovely stay, great pubs and cafe, and lovely scenic dog walks

Lovely long weekend in the Peak District, the house was very comfortable and had everything we required. The pubs, cafe and local amenities were close and very friendly. Lovely dog walks close by, and had a lovely walk to Litten for an amazing Sunday Roast! The owner emailed with useful information and was very helpful and prompt when responding to queries. Would definitely recommend!

Ideal for both short breaks and long holidays!

Quiet location. Parking on road outside (no problem parking, but alternative nearby). This quaint cottage is all you could wish for, both for short or long stays. Comfy beds, everyone commented on having a good nights sleep. Shower had rain and normal settings. Nice to unwind in the lounge, with its wood burner. Kitchen has everything you need for your self catering needs, although the village has several pubs, all doing meals, and for breakfast, there is a café in the main part. Would suggest when boking this property, pre book your evening meals, as the pubs can get quite busy!. Plus there is a great chippy opposite the church.

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property, so no negatives! It's an ideal location for exploring the area, Plenty of places to walk and explore with your dog! Owner is very pleasant to deal with. So enjoy your stay!

The Bobbin was an excellent base for our visit to Tideswell, we definitely recommend it!

The cottage was really beautiful, with a nice view from the front windows. It was cosy, with comfy sofas, blankets and cushions, making it feel like home from home. The decor was tasteful too, and we enjoyed the ‘sheep’ theme in the kitchen. The owner provided clear instructions about the heating and the log burner, so they were easy to operate. We loved the homely feel that the log burner added to the evenings that we were there. If the local hardware store is out of logs, the co-op sells them too. The owner responded quickly to a question during our stay, so it was reassuring to know that they were easily contactable. There was a dedicated parking space immediately opposite the cottage, and it was within walking distance of the local co-op and other shops and pubs.

The stairs are very steep, which obviously can’t be changed. However, a small additional section of handrail on the right-hand turn going up would be very reassuring to anyone who is less confident when using such a steep staircase. Several towels were provided in the bathroom, but they were mostly smaller ones. It would have been better if there had been a large towel for each adult staying. Instructions in the bathroom on how to switch between the very large overhead spray and the smaller one would also be helpful to anyone who is unfamiliar with that type of shower. Ketchup and/or brown sauce would be nice additions to the complementary items provided if you want to visit the local chippy one evening. It’s unlikely that you will have packed any along with your clothes and toiletries!

Lovely cottage and location

Very clean and new bathroom and kitchen with everything we needed. Heating warmed up very quickly. Good location a few minutes walk from village centre. Lots of information provided by owner and knew how to get hold of her if needed

Should've taken wood with us, car parking spot was used by someone in a neighbouring cottage (who clearly had no manners!), could've done with more blankets at night for when heating went off

A perfect weekend, would have liked to be staying longer.

Loved the view, especially from the bedroom windows. The beds were extremely comfortable, I could have slept all day! Plus it was very quiet and peaceful. The solar lights were a nice touch. The log burning stove very easy to light.

The place was clean and just homely straight away. It had everything you would need and was beautifully decorated. The views from the property were lovely. The proprietors left great instructions for the local amenities and can highly recommend too the Star pub...so friendly and wonderful food. Would highly recommend the property and lots to do and see nearby.
