Captain’s Quarters – Anchor Pier Lodge - Meredith Lodging
Spend time in the heart of a busy seaport with a stay in the charming Captain’s Quarters of Anchor Pier Lodge. You’ll watch fishing boats parade by as sea lions bark from their perches on the jetty while you sun yourself on your upstairs deck. Decorated to match its name, this handsome studio has charming antique furnishings, including a queen sleigh bed and a sweet writing desk. A TV is closed into a cabinet near the window nook, where you can enjoy the spectacle of seabirds wheeling in the sky. You can access a kitchenette (microwave, coffee station, and mini-fridge) from a closet near the entry.
Newport’s Historic Bayfront is right out your door, with a smorgasbord of eating options, colorful murals, and unique shops; the bustle of activity as the day’s catch comes in off the boats reminds you that this is a working marine town. Enjoy seafood from Clearwater Restaurant, Local Ocean, or Ocean Bleu Seafoods at Gino’s, or bar fare from Rogue Ales Bayfront Public House or the Barge Inn Tavern. Walk further down the Bayfront to see the marina full of fishing boats, or up the hill to enjoy learning about the area’s history in the Pacific Maritime and Heritage Center. Hop in the car, and the Yaquina Lighthouse, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, and Nye Beach are minutes away. Perfect view, easy to follow directions for check-in (as long as you can see the checkmark, which is low on the keypad), and the room was pleasant (could use a softer chair..). My first night I walked down Bay Street and had one of the finest Bacon Cheeseburger ever at the Rogue with a Dead Guy Pilsner. The next night I danced for hours at The Bay Haven, and the next morning a great breakfast at the Barge zinn right across the street. Wonderful 3 days!

When we entered the apt, there was a piece of chewed gum on the floor, was not smashed and easily picked up with paper towel. Location is great. The furniture layout is weird, spent the first night rearranging in my head to make more functional. Had a coffee maker, coffee lids and cardboard hand sleeves, no cups. No seals on the seal deck, noise not an issues. Slept with patio door open as there is no AC and it is hot in the apartment. Bed was comfortable, but a small queen. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare between 10 and 5. Overall, had a good stay.
