Stunning Chateau and grounds with tastefully decorated rooms in one wing and the opportunity to explore a little and have breakfast in the main house.
So quiet & dark at night and best of all….the family are so welcoming, friendly and happy to answer hundreds of questions about their history if you want to ask. We arrived two days before a family wedding which was to be hosted at the Chateau and despite the flurry of activity as they prepared, we couldn’t have been better looked after.
It was too cold when we stayed for swimming but the pool area is clean & inviting.

Beautiful chateau, lots of interesting gardens, rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was simple but good. Staff were friendly
This property is obviously used as a beautiful wedding venue, but when we stayed we were the only ones there - The gardens felt a little like the morning after the night before where you could see the potential but it was a little like they hadn’t bothered that week as there were no weddings etc. - sadly the pool was unclean and out of action which was a shame as it was one of the reasons we chose this property and we were not given any prior knowledge of this.

Beautiful place in extensive grounds. Lots of distractions for children.
It is expensive - but it is also exceptional.

We adored the Chateau de Vauchelles. it was absolutely stunning. The beautiful building and interiors, the gorgeous grounds, the hens roaming free, the divine swimming pool area, the very warm welcome from the kind and generous owners. Fabulous!
Not much we didn’t like. Everything was fabulous.

beautifully restored Chateau. Modern rooms blended into 17th century building very well

Fantastic to stay in a historic chateau, eat beautifully prepared food, swim in the lovely pool, sleep in a comfortable bed in a huge room for our family of 5.
We were shown the restored parts of the chateau and it’s really very special. Wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area properly. The perfect last stop of our holiday.
Thank you to our hosts!

Location is on the way from Rouen, perfect for a stop off before Calais. It's a 75 minute drive to the tunnel. Perfect. The place itself is majestic. A fantastic, warm welcome from a pleasant young lady who showed us to the room and also got us some beers as there is no bar. Massive room with an excellent shower. Breakfast was typically french and was excellent in quality. The main man showed us around the chateau and opened the pool so we could swim early. A truly wonderful experience. Many thanks.
Could do with a bar!

What a great find. We were traveling on motorbikes and didn't fancy the hassle of the town so looked for something different. Do not expect the traditional customer is always right attitude here as your staying in their adapted home.
The hosts spoke good English and made us welcome, the pool area was a treat and allowed us to chill out in the warm afternoon sun. We stayed for dinner and were told the menu was a surprise as the lady of the house was a great cook. Feeling very relaxed (sometimes a fussy eater) we embraced this and was not disappointed as the food was amazing.
A fantastic estate kept in the family from the 17th century. If you can stay a while as a real treat.
Reception on arrival was unclear.

Wonderful owners, beautiful property, affordable family options.

Stunning setting, parking next to the room and friendly staff. We misunderstood the property type but the host very kindly provided access to wine and bottled beer for a reasonable cost.
Signage was poor even upto the gate due to the 'private property' sign was unsure whether it was the right place. No bar facilities. The shower / bathroom was very small and sink was outside the bathroom.

Beautiful premises, clean, comfortable, very kind and flexible owners, good breakfast. Really good value for money! highly recommend!
Lacking a charger for electric cars. Many U.K. residents now own electric cars and it would be ideal to charge overnight on the way to Paris, so we could have left the chateau the next morning with a charged car

This will be a review of two halves. Firstly, the good half. This is an amazing property and if you want to experience a French chateau that has been in the same family for four centuries then this is for you. The rooms in the main chateau are amazing and the owner is very happy to give you a tour and explain the house’s history. You will also have a continental breakfast in the chateau dining room.
Therefore I feel it is a real shame that not enough care and attention has been paid to the guest accommodation which is located on the first floor of an adjacent wing to the main house, certainly in the room we had booked. We are seasoned travellers and have just spent two weeks touring France staying in five star chambres d’hote which have all been excellent apart from this stay. The room was supposedly a ‘deluxe’ twin, it was certainly not deluxe. The configuration of the beds to begin with was very odd being at opposite ends of the room. There was minimal furniture and certain things, such as a bedside light which could only be operated by getting out of bed and switching off the main light switch, were inconvenient. There were three towels between two of us and, which I found very disturbing and have never experienced in all our travels, there were no covers on the duvets, just a single sheet. There were single pillows on the bed and the only extra pillow in the open wardrobe had no pillowcase. My bed was most definitely damp which made for a not very pleasant night’s sleep.Valerie, who runs the accommodation, greeted us when we got there and was pleasant enough but nothing like the helpful welcomes we have received elsewhere. I had messaged her about providing an evening meal and she had replied by saying they could do one, however she appeared not to remember this when we arrived. This is important as it was a bank holiday weekend and we then to drive some way to find an evening meal as the chateau is right in the countryside.
You really cannot call a room deluxe and not provide a deluxe service. Bedding poor. Minimal furniture. Odd bed configuration. ‘Garden view ‘ is actually a tree view as the window is high up. No instructions on how to operate the window blind. No booklet of information about your stay or WiFi info, emergency contact info.etc. This room needs a complete upgrade , the only decent thing being the modern bathroom but there again, let down by the amount of towels and no loo roll holder. Lastly, visitors need to be aware there is a steep flight of stairs to the rooms.

Breakfast was delicious, fresh baguettes, croissants and pain au chocolat.
We could not have felt more at home in the Chateau.
Our hosts have spent the past 11 years lovingly restoring their home and it felt really special to be welcomed in to the residence that has been in their family since the 17th century.
We were given a tour of the reception rooms and the beautiful gardens including the delightful outdoor swimming pool.
As it was a Monday and most of the local restaurants were closed, our hosts prepared a great cheese board for us to enjoy with a lovely bottle of red! Supper can be arranged with the hosts by arrangement.

Beautiful Chateau owned and lovingly cared for by a charming and kind host. The bedrooms are very tastefully decorated and superbly clean. The expansive grounds are beautiful, the swimming pool is new and stylishly set in the grounds. Breakfast was lovely and typically french. The host was very understanding during the Covid peak that France was experiencing at the time of our visit and took the necessary precautions whilst still being warm and friendly. A wonderful experience and we shall be back. Merci.

Place of relaxation.
Fresh air close to the woods.

Great surroundings, comfortable room, beautiful gardens and swimming pool.
Very overpriced for a 4-bed room and a little bit mean in terms of amenities. Basic breakfast with supermarket bread etc, three small sachets of shower gel for 4 people, kettle with just two tea bags....Perhaps the prices are more reasonable for a two-bed room.
