A pleasant couple of days in a comfortable environment with majestic views!!

Beautiful location and views, delicious food. Cozy atmosphere; loved the restaurant with games for the family. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were comfortable, seemed recently renovated. Great for ski in ski out and sledding. Family friendly; our six year old has decided he wants to work for Chris when he grows up :P

Could be challenge to get to if you have less able-bodied people with you, so just think ahead and work with the private transport company in Murren, who are fabulous.

Perfect location for hiking around Murren

Perfect location for hiking in Murren and around and a good start for the Northface trail. Good breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms and an unforgatable view of the all three northfaces of Jungfrau, Monch and Eiger, permanently in sight. The personnel and the owner of the Hotel were very kind and helpfull. The road from Murren to the Hotel takes around half an hour uphill and it is not recommended for troller-bagages (the path is paved with small stones). Best way at arrival is to take the funicular from Murren up to Allmendhubbel and from there to hike down to the hotel about 10 minutes. It is not so tiersome this way. Should you have trollers as luggage I also recommend to contact the property. They could provide transportation. At departure, hiking down to Murren is easy and recommendable (since it is downhill) having always the mountains in sight. We stayed for three nights but two nights is optimal. We hiked Northface trail which we recommend via Wasserfall Sprutz and arriving at Gimmewald were we had the hightlight of the jurney having a cold beer in a hot day on the terrace (upstairs) at Pension Gimmewald.

Hotel Sonnenberg is a jewel. It was the best hotel of our trip in the alps.

Just off the beaten path, Hotel Sonnenberg is a lovely, inviting place with warm staff and surprisingly excellent food. Rooms were well appointed with soft towels and the best beds we had all trip. The host, Chris, organized laundry service and took pains to make us comfortable.

In a car free town, be prepared to pull your luggage up and down hills. The hotel does offer courier service for a fee.

Exceptional

Everything was perfect. Host was generous and funny. He went above and beyond in accommodating us and in addition to all, is an amazing chef! Lovely lovely time and I cannot recommend it enough.

Very welcoming hotel with great food and a nice breakfast.

Really nice hotel with an excellent owner Christoph. We ate there and the meal was excellent as was the wine and the whiskey. Very friendly atmosphere and very good breakfast. Great views.

A bit hard to get to but worth the effort. We arrived by train and had to get a funicular and then walk down to it.

A truly memorable stay!

The incredibly kind staff, the delicious Hiker’s Pasta for dinner, and the breathtaking scenery made this an unforgettable experience. I regret missing the chance to thank the director at checkout—it was such a wonderful time, and I’d love to stay here again!

Beautiful hut; tricky location

Beautiful setting above Mürren with incredible views; room was very modern and clean with private shower and bath, great water pressure / heat.

Location difficult to access after the closure of the Allmenhubelbahn at 5pm daily. No shuttle running in mid-summer. A steep long walk up from Murren; restaurant, patio etc. seemed closed and no longer in business

Fairy tail setting with tremendous staff

The warm staff, the views, the cute room upgrade. The breakfast was very good as well

It’s a VERY far walk considering the grace of the mountain. If they greatly discounted a pick up from the Murren cable car, may make it more palatable.

Chris was very welcoming and made us feel right at home from the beginning. Very clean and comfortable stay. Food at the hotel restaurant was great as well. The location is absolutely beautiful located in the valley between the mountains.

Spectacular views, a comfortable stay, with exceptional service.

Location was spectacular. Getting to the hotel from the nearest train station takes a bit of time (around 20-30 minutes), but the trek is completely worth it as you will be treated to unbelievable views upon arrival. Our room had breakfast included. Breakfast was no frills but exactly what we needed. The operators of the hotel were amazing. Chris is a fantastic human being and took care of us marvelously during our stay. Selena and Auda were kind and friendly and extremely helpful. I can't speak highly enough of our time at Hotel Restaurant Sonnenberg.

I really don't have any complaints. We loved our stay at this hotel and would happily stay there again.

We had an amazing stay

The view: We stayed at this hotel for four days, and even though it rained for three of those days, it didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Swiss Alps. The hotel's location was fantastic, with its back to Birg and facing Gletscherhorn. Sitting on the balcony of our room, we could see the Swiss mountains and the chalets scattered on the hillside. That being said, because of the location, from the Mürren station, there is a 30 minutes walk uphill to get to the hotel, just let the hotel know and they will pick you up at the station by car. The view is totally worth the effort! The hospitality: Chris, the owner, took very good care of us, and we are very grateful to him. The food he prepared was delicious and varied, with no repetition in any of the meals, and it was very abundant. The hotel's decor was very new, the bed was very comfortable with just the right firmness, so we rested very well. We couldn’t recommend it enough.

Wonderful location. Ski in-ski out. Incredible views. Sunny and sheltered. Terrace for relaxing with a drink (still too chilly to be outside late into the evening as we were early April). Christoph looked after us really well, delicious breakfasts and 3 course dinners - we didn’t need lunch! Rooms clean and comfortable with lovely views. So peaceful. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Awesome location & Great value for money

Stayed with my wife and two teenage daughters. The location was beyond our expectations. Chris is an excellent host and took good care of us. There are plenty of things to do in Mürren and its vicinity. The scenery is amazing. We would certainly come back and stay here in the future.

It requires a steep hike to get to the place. Chris offers shuttle service and is very flexible and accommodating with the pick up drop off requests. So this was not a big deal to us but I wish we did not have to bother him

Fabulous, warm welcoming stay with a great staff and spectacular views of the mountains.

Christoph and his team made us feel like family. The chef made excellent dinners each night. Also, the view from the hotel (and our room) was SPECTACULAR! A hiker's paradise! Christoph worked with us on early an earlier than expected departure, due to illness.

Perfect place to stay with amazing views

We received friendly welcome upon our arrival. Rooms were clean and one of them had an amazing view of the mountains. Also surrounding is calming, all green. We stayed for the dinner which was also delicious served with the local beer. The menu is broad and there was also a vegetarian option. Breakfast was simple, sufficient and fresh. All was good.

Very disappointed

Very disappointing. We booked a room at 10am (the same day as we should have checked in) and didn’t see any message about using a train and a cable cart and then walk to be able to reach the hotel. Since we travelled with our 5 month old son. It’s not recommended to sleep or go to high altitude with him. We found it out when we put the address to the navigation and then called the hotel. We explained our situation and kindly asked for a refund since we were afraid of taking our son to such altitude. We were told that they will think about it but unfortunately in a few days they charged us the full amount.

Njöt av lugnet.

Hotellet ligger fantastiskt fint en bit upp från Mürren. Utsikt över Eiger, Silverhorn och Mönch är svårslagen. Ägaren och hans personal är väldigt trevliga och tillmötes gående och det serveras riktigt god mat. Rummen fräscha och bekväma. Ett hotell som vi rekommenderar och som vi hoppas på att komma tillbaka till.

Das Essen war wunderbar. Toller Kaiserschmarrn vom Wienerischen Koch :) Wunderbare Lage im Skigebiet. Bewirtung sehr freundlich und familiär. Schöner Ausblick auf das Bergpanorama. Unkompliziert :)

Wir sahen beim Buchen nicht, dass man noch eine Bahn zusätzlich nehmen muss, welche bereits um 17 Uhr schliesst. So sind wir das letzte Stück gelaufen, war trotzdem schön ;)
