Hakone Honbako 箱根本箱

Beautiful hotel and room with private onsen. We really enjoyed our stay here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner surprised us every night again and is at Michelin star level. Staff took excellent care of dietary restrictions, explaining changes made to every dish and making me feel reassured. Room was big, clean and we slept very well. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Great facility, excellent food, very helpful staff

The property is beautiful. The lobby, library, common areas, and our room were excellent. We scheduled a room with a private onsen. The room was very large, beds were comfy, private toilet and washroom were clean and functional. We were located on the second floor and the view of the mountains was impressive. Despite an oncoming typhoon, we spent a lot of time using the onsen, and it was more than I hoped for. The staff here was friendly, accommodating, and anticipatory of our needs. Our room package included meals, which were prepared by a resident chef and her staff and served in a large communal dining/kitchen area. We very meal was delicious, interesting, innovative, and fresh. There is a communal onsen, but we didn’t visit it once.

We honestly cannot come up with a single thing we did not like.
