Great stay

Great location in the heart of the city Friendly staff willing to assist Hotel group has also two restaurants for which discount was given since we were guests to the hotel (soul kitchen was a great choice) Towels, bathrobe, slippers provided which is a plus There is also fridge in the room (they also offer snacks and beverages for extra charge) We had also used the jacuzzi and sauna which was a great experience Hair dryer provided

The property is perfectly located in the center of town, with everything you could possibly need just steps away. The rooms are comfortable, spacious, and very clean, and the area is quiet at night. Breakfast at Soul Kitchen was absolutely out of this world — 100/10 🤩. The staff were another 100/10 experience. They went above and beyond to please us at all times. They arranged for our rooms to be available before the official check-in time, organized transportation so we could visit the places we wanted to see, and even prepared breakfast boxes for us on the day of check-out since we couldn’t stay for breakfast. The ladies were incredibly kind and welcoming, truly making our stay more memorable. Special thanks to Rosetta and Veretta 🫶🏻. 10,000% recommended!

This was not an issue for us personally, but the elevator did not seem to be working properly. We stayed on the 3rd floor, and the only way to get there was by using the stairs from reception to the 1st floor, then taking the elevator down to the 2nd floor, and using the stairs again to reach the 3rd floor. We actually never used the elevator. While this did not affect us, it would definitely be a challenge for guests with disabilities or mobility issues. The toilet was slightly clogged and required flushing multiple times before the next person could use it. The shower heads 🚿 had noticeable salt deposits, which made it look dirty even though it wasn’t. And lastly… there were a lot of mirrors 🥴🤣😂

The hotel is in great location, you can walk anywhere in few minutes. The staff was excellent , they helped us for everything. We stayed in business room, this was the best, it was clean , comfortable.

Good location, best breakfast and modern rooms

The location was perfect. Within walking distance of attractions, restaurants, the Old Bazaar, and casinos. The breakfast variety and quality were also very good. The room was clean, quiet, and peaceful. The gym was incredibly functional and equipped with high-quality materials.

Perfect stay in Skopje

Absolutely amazing stay at Hotel Macedonia Square: a comfortable, clean room, a rich and tasty breakfast, and very friendly staff made my stay in Macedonia a pure delight. I would definitely recommend staying here, the hotel is located in the very city centre, so it is a perfect place for walking around Skopje.

Location, location, location

The key advantage of the hotel is its location, next to Macedonian Square, with all points of interest within walking distance. The hotel is also located in a pedestrian zone, so I was not disturbed by traffic noise in my room. The room and bed were comfortable, and the Wi-Fi worked without any problems. There was a wide selection of breakfast options, including Balkan ajvar and grilled vegetables. The staff was helpful.

I heard crows at night, but the hotel can't do anything about that.

I would recommend the hotel based on location alone.

Location is perfect. It’s located in the middle of town near old town. There are many restaurants and coffee shops nearby. The bed was great and we slept well every night.

Breakfast was ok, but everything was cold and very little variation from day to day. I didn’t like that using the sauna was a 15 Euro charge.

Luxury in Skopje

The hotel is in a quiet spot. You will need to get dropped off by taxi at the arch and walk the short distance to the hotel. There are lots of nice places to eat nearby, and a great shopping mall within 500m with a bakery, supermarket and chemist. The hotel accommodation is as good as it gets in Macedonia. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are restful.

The breakfast room is a bit small but I assume they use outdoor seating in summer (we were there in autumn). I'd also say that it'd be helpful to have a family suite. We booked 2 rooms and the staff were very accommodating and got us side by side rooms.

Great central location with great staff

I cannot compliment this hotel and its staff enough! The staff went out of their way to cater to the needs of all enquires i had. They were friendly helpful and genuinely cared about the experience. They helped organise transfers and information requests with ease. Thank you. The rooms were large and showers very big too. The bed was comfortable and the gym was one of the best hotel gyms I’ve seen.

The breakfast room can get busy and is small I found around 8-9 could be tricky with seating sometimes

5 August 2025 - UPDATE: I now have a better understanding how this hotel has a high Booking.com rating. Shortly after I posted this review, Hotel Macedonia Square contacted me and asked me to change my rating. (“We kindly ask if there's any chance that you change your score for higher one. All of our Staff will be grateful to you.”) 29 June 2025 REVIEW: How this hotel has such a high rating on this website is baffling. We had a very disappointing and frustrating start to our stay at Hotel Macedonia Square. We were given a room without functional air conditioning and they made us wait an hour to see if the room would begin to cool. It did not get any cooler but we waited in the hot room for an hour without unpacking. Then we were given a much better room that had perfectly functioning air conditioning. With very limited time in Skopje, it was frustrating to waste this time. Note that Hotel Macedonia Square does not have an elevator and you need to be capable of carrying your own luggage up the stairs.

I loved everything about the room. The breakfast is great, although it can be improved with more options. Location is perfect for me. Near the river, main tourist attractions and restaurants. Also got 10% discount in nearby restaurants, think same owner. I really like their gym. Spa is great. But the real highlight for me is the kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff. Not only the staff but other people in Macedonia are really kind.

Mnuogu preskrasno!!!

I stayed here last September (2024) also and I immediately loved this place! This time was no different! The rooms ara spacy, comfy and the beds are very, very, very good! Also they have a big gym with modern stuff! Great!! The staff is super nice and welcoming and the breakfast has everything you can wish for! I will come back this fall and I'm already looking forward to it! 10 out of 10 to my friends from Macedonian Square Hotel!

The room was really nice and in a good condition. Very comfortable beds. The location is great.

The breakfast wasn’t particularly good. It is cheap but quite basic. There is no shampoo in the rooms and it turned out to be impossible to get. I was promised twice but never arrived.

Staff was really helpful, they helped to organize a pick-up from the airport and helped with all our questions. The room was fine and quiet, maybe a bit dark, but I guess that was the style of the hotel. Bathroom and a shower was very good.

Centrally located hotel perfect for a stay to explore Skopje

I received good communication from the hotel in advance of my trip and they gave me directions on how to get to the hotel from the bus station. I arrived a little earlier than check in so expected to leave my luggage but reception kindly checked if my room type was available which it was so they let me check in a little early. My room was really comfortable - good sized room, lots of storage space, good amenities like toiletries and coffee/tea supplies and an in-room safe, and comfortable bed/linen, rain shower. It was nice to have a balcony but I did not get a chance to use it much. The hotel's location was fantastic - there is only pedestrian access to it and it is so close to Macedonia Square, the Stone bridge, a short walk to museums, the Old Bazaar, fortress, near lots of bars and restaurants. I only realised when I was checking out that a couple nearby restaurants offer a discount for hotel guests and I happened to dine at one of them - that was my fault for not reading through the info sheet given to me. I had breakfast at the hotel and found it had good choices - breakfast is served in a small space so one morning all the tables were occupied when I went down but other guests kindly shifted to make room for me. There was a heads up in the info sheet that breakfast can be busy due to the small space so I had been aware of that. I would stay at the hotel again if I come back to Skopje.

This is only a very minor point but thought to share in case anyone reading this may have mobility challenges. The lifts to the rooms stop between floors so there is still a set of stairs to go up. For example, I was in a 300 numbered room but the lift stopped at 2 so I had to walk up one level. This was not a problem for me but wanted to mention in case this might be useful to know.
