Après la pluie

Apres La Pluie is located in an outbuilding of a house in a small village just outside Montreuil sur Mer, and within easy walking distance of the town. The rooms were immaculately clean, and the owner very friendly and helpful. We arrived needing to charge our electric car, and she would have offered us use of their personal electric charger, only there was a powercut over the whole village. She was able to recommend a nearby charging point outside the powercut area that we could walk back from easily while the car charged. We had our dog with us and she was able to recommend plenty of places where we could have lovely walks and she assured us that the garden was fully fenced and safe for us to let our dog run free off the lead. Montreuil sur Mer was a delightful town, with plenty of good restaurants and bars as well as an interesting chateau fort (ruined) to visit.

Quelle jolie découverte que le gîte « Après la pluie ! » Un cocon douillet et confortable dans un écrin de verdure. Un petit déjeuner gourmand et copieux. Nous voici prêts à nous mettre à l’assaut de la Côte d’Opale !

Un petit détail :pas de support pour le savon et shampooing dans la douche.

Le calme

An detached place to stay facing the back garden, very quiet and you can hear the birds in the evening and in the morning. Large bathroom. We booked last minutes on booking.com and it was accepted, but the host was not aware of the booking when I called ahead of our arrival, fortunately, she gracefully accepted in and welcomed us. Ample enclosed car parking, just off the road, which is very convenient. This accommodation best works in the summer when the heating is not necessary, the window can be kept open, and you can sit in the garden for your breakfast.

The room was cold when we arrived,, so we asked for the heating to be switched on. There was a kettle in the room which was nice. Unfortunately, the electricity switched off after a while and this happened twice in the evening which was a little disconcerting. I had to call the host to switch it back on each time. She apologised in the morning and explained that it was unusual, and asked us if we used a lot of electrical items, which was weird, as she provides a fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker, a kettle, hairdryer, and two electric heaters in the accommodation. There was no sign saying only one item can be used at a time. There was a glass coffee table in the middle of the room which took up a lot of the room space, and a tiny wobbly table with two chairs, where we tried to eat our breakfast (included in the price). It was not very comfortable. Breakfast was totally sweet, including the croissant which already has jam in it! It's a room with basic catering facilities, it does not have a kitchen.
