Might stay again, might not.

The hotel is nice enough and underground parking is great. The attached bar/restaurant is probably great but all we had was a beer there at the end of our evening. Checkin was ok, limited english by the staff- but we got it done. There is a train station right across the street but it was a lot quieter than I thought it would be.

The waitstaff in the evening came off a little surly which is unfortunate- we may have stayed for more but that put us off. The location is ok but the closest eating and drinking options offsite are 5-10 mins away on foot.

Really good value and great food.

Very friendly staff, great dinner incl. glutenfree pizza and pasta. Bus stop outside the door, easy and quick to get into Meran. Even a bus going to the Trautmannsdorf gardens stops there. Free public transport with the Südtirol guest card, didn't need the car at all.

The door of the guest room is terribly thin and it was quite noisy from the hallway and stairwell.

Worst experience with a hotel in my entire life and I do 2 road trips per year ! 4 messages, calls, only after 4 days the hotel at last answered me that they cannot accept me to postpone the reservation, whereas my flight was simply cancelled and the hotel still had available rooms on their web site ! They claimed that they made mistake, would accept my reservation change which they never did in reality nor corrected their mistake with Booking. As a result,. Booking invoiced me the night that I never spent in that hotel even if the owner confirmed me on Whatsapp that they would not charge me. What an unprofessionalism !!!!

Pleasant family visit with a dog

The staff was very friendly. I needed to leave before breakfast time, but they offered me a coffee. :-) The croissant at the breakfast is the best! The coffee is very good too. They serve any type of coffee at breakfast without extra costs. There are some free parking slots at the side of the hotel.

The room could be very noise due to the highway in summer time when you want to keep the terrace door open. The good thing is that there is air-conditioner in the rooms. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors (even snoring in the middle of the night).

Una fuga in montagna

The Cavallino hotel is located in the Merano Bassa area, close to the train station Maia Bassa. It is at 1.5 km from the city centre. Nice walking to town. Alternatively you can take a bus, just outside the hotel. There are 5 parking spaces outside the hotel but you can park in the street in front of it. Our room was ok, large bathroom with shower. The windows are insulated, but if you open them, you can hear the car traffic. There is a restaurant in the hotel. Good food. Coffee served for breakfast was good. Staff was nice and kind

Room furnitures are basic, old fashioned. The mattress not very comfortable. Breakfast does not vary, same type of food for 3 days. Croissants, apple strudel were not covered to avoid many people touch them (for Covid problems).

Fabulous Hotel. I spent 18 nights and I feel like at home. The albergo Cavallino is among anything warm and comfortable. The owner Dirk, was very helpful to me and solved all the problems I had regarding extending my stay. If I come back to Merano for sure I will repeat
