Forthcoming and friendly staff. Very good breakfast indeed. Perhaps a suspiciously large selection of menu items ("Most of these must be industrial product from freezers, they can't possibly have a pantry large enough to hold everything they'd need to make them fresh ! " ) but the linguine with porcini, pizza Romana, and griddled squid were very good, wherever they came from. The hotel is across the street from Merano's second-line railway station, rather far from the town centre : Roundabouts and swings. Bus service into the centre, however, is good. Traffic on the neighbouring streets can be . . . heavy. Those sensitive to noise may want a room at the rear of the building.
I should have been happier if the shower stall contained a little shelf or basket in which to place a personal cake of soap, bottle of soap, bottle of conditioner ; a safety razor; my glasses . . . * * * An electric kettle in the room, but -- "No instant coffee in the supplies rack ! " I commented to a staff member. "Just come downstairs, we'll make you a coffee," she replied. Ah. But for those of us who want a pick-me-up before the kitchen opens or the bar closes . . . If you go, take along a few sachets of Nescafé, and maybe a few of creamer as well. * * * Before breakfast is made available to guests, both doors into the area where the buffet is set out are locked : The lift door and the door into the stair-hall. And it's from that area that one gains access to the street. An early train to catch ? You may be in trouble. Well, at least you've been warned.

The hotel is nice enough and underground parking is great. The attached bar/restaurant is probably great but all we had was a beer there at the end of our evening. Checkin was ok, limited english by the staff- but we got it done. There is a train station right across the street but it was a lot quieter than I thought it would be.
The waitstaff in the evening came off a little surly which is unfortunate- we may have stayed for more but that put us off. The location is ok but the closest eating and drinking options offsite are 5-10 mins away on foot.

Very friendly staff, great dinner incl. glutenfree pizza and pasta.
Bus stop outside the door, easy and quick to get into Meran. Even a bus going to the Trautmannsdorf gardens stops there.
Free public transport with the Südtirol guest card, didn't need the car at all.
The door of the guest room is terribly thin and it was quite noisy from the hallway and stairwell.
