Quiet, comfortable, convenient, inexpensive

Comfy room under the eaves, very friendly, helpful host. The city bus provides quick transport into the center of historical York.

The staircase is pretty steep, probably better for guests who don't have big suitcases.

Very cosy and convenient for sightseeing in York, just a short bus ride out of the city and a train ride away from Knaresborough and Mother Shipton’s Cave.

A great visit to York

YCH is situated in a nice, quiet location, well connected with the city centre by bus, or a ten-minute, unhurried drive in your own car. The hosts are so kind and very helpful. A nice, neat, clean and modern room with free access to the internet, free leaflets and maps of York. Free tea and coffee. An absolute gem for a solo traveller. Thank you very much for your hints and tips about what to see in York and how to find my way around. Definitely, I would like to stay there again.

Would defo stay again for a short break.

Handy for public transport into / out of York and easy access off ring road. Excellent host and good location - great value for money. Very responsive when I needed an extra pillow.

My stay.

Becky is a lovely woman who makes every effort to accommodate all your needs. For example, she waited 30 minutes in for me to arrive so she could show me round and give me a key. Similarly, she left the hall light on for my return.

I have a fractured spine which Becky did not know about. I need hard mattresses which, while the mattress was, it was not hard enough for me. I am sure if I had discussed it with her, she would have fixed it. She is that sort of woman.

The location was ideal and the host was lovely. I had everything I needed for my stay.

The mattress could have been more comfortable, but for the price paid, it was good enough :)

A delightful homestay in the leafy suburbs of York with a friendly host and very good value

It was in a leafy middle class suburb of York with lots of local families - it was nice to be in the mix of local people rather than being surrounded by tourists. The host was lovely and I was able to park my hire car on the street out front. The 5/5A bus to the city centre was only 3 minutes walk and I used that service because of the lack of parking in York.

For me it was fine, but the stairs are tight to the 3rd level.

The bed was placed quite close to the wall and made a noise when the bed knocked against the wall
