About this cottage rental
Previously named Le Petit Moulinot, La Tourelle was a granary which was renovated and comfortably furnished to accommodate four guests.
The cleverly designed kitchen is built into the shape of the tower. On the ground floor, the living room with wood beamed ceiling overlooks the South facing terrace and private garden beside the mill pond. The wooden staircase in the living/dining room leads to the first floor and the attic style bedrooms, one twin and a king double with adjacent small turret dressing room. The bathroom has a bathtub with shower and the wc is separate. This property features WiFi Internet access.
La Tourelle is set in fourteen acres of green grounds, bordered by its own millpond and the River Cure. The 10m x 8m solar heated swimming pool is sunk into the ground, adjacent to and level with the millpond.
On the far side of the pool stands Le Moulinot, a renovated watermill originally built as a grain mill in the 18th Century. Le Moulinot is occasionally rented and the swimming pool is shared by all. Your private garden and the terraced eating area cannot be seen from the pool.

What a gem!The house is absolutely lovely and very private and calm. Our kids (3 and 5 years) really enjoyed the pool and the garden. The house itself and the pool are very clean and the pool was tended to every day of our stay. The host Cinda was very quick to react when we had a minor issue. In short: our week went by way too fast and we hope to be back in the near future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this property. We arrived tired after an amazing week at the Paris 2024 Olympics, so we were very content to relax for the week by the pool. The weather was in our favour, so we sat, read, swam and played games all week! We enjoyed a trip out to the local market and local supermarket. We also made the most of the local river and went out on our paddle board every morning. Delightful week in a beautiful setting.

We stayed for 10 days and had a wonderfull time. The kids did not want to leave the property: great pool, with an amazing view over the pond. We loved it. Kingfishers flew on and off. Dee took such good care of us. Dee… you are amazing! Lovely villages to visit and beautifull hikes direct from the property.

We had such a wonderful week in this beautiful holiday home. The location is perfect, so peaceful and very private but a 10 minute walk into Vermenton for a baguette or coffee. The house was very comfortable, so spacious and with everything we could need for our stay. The lovely Dee was around if we needed anything. We enjoyed visiting Auxerre, Vezelay and Guedelon. The walks along the canal and river were beautiful and the Friday market in Vermenton was fun too. Would love to go back one day!

Lovely well equipped gite in stunning location and convenient for places we wished to visit such as Auxerre, Chablis and Vezelay. Dijon was a bit further afield but worth the day trip. Vermenton has a good ATAC supermarket and we were impressed with the local Le Meridien brasserie for lunch one day. Great swimming pool and rural setting with plenty of chances to spot wildlife.
We've had a great break, wish it was longer. A friendly local lady Dee is on hand to settle you in and help if necessary. Five stars.

We had a lovely week in Vermenton which we used as a stop off on the way to Cannes. The property is incredibly pretty sitting on the bank of a mill pond at the top of which is a lovely pool which we made good use of during our stay. The property is very well equipped and a comfortable relaxing space to be in. The property is a short walk away from the river and the canal, which were kayaking opportunities for our son who even managed to kayak in the mill pond. There is a good walk/cycle path along the canal to Accolay The Atac supermarket is a 15min walk away and supplied everything that you might need. We visited some pretty villages and towns including Chablis and Auxerre, During our visit we saw an abundance of wildlife, Kingfishers, water vole and also what I believed may have been an otter!

Oasis of tranquility and still very close to all facilities you may need. The place offers also good access to the most interesting touristic spots. Special thanks to Dee for her hospitality. Our kids enjoyed the pool and a fairytale like forest. The possibility to see and touch the crops, cereal fields and harvest machines was also an unique experience for us, tired of living in a big city.

We stayed for two weeks at this delightful property - just after a huge storm but all was well in the cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet but within 5 minute walk to Vermenton (supermarket, Friday market, tabac, boulangeries) and 20 min walk to Accolay to a fabulous restaurant "Hostellerie de la Fontaine". Friends from Switzerland joined us ( we are from Adelaide Australia) and we explored the regional towns such as Vezelay, Chablis, Dijon, Semur en Auxois, Noyers sur Serein and Auxerre.

A truly relaxing place, perfectly located for exploring the gorgeous Burgundy countryside, canals and Chablis (town and wine). La Tourelle was well furnished, equipped and clean. A big thankyou to Dee and Cinda for all your help and we'll see you again next year for 2 weeks this time!

This house is even more beautiful than the pictures show.
Its in a great location and well furnished, equipped with everything you could need for your vacation
We were unfortunate with the weather as it rained 5 days from 7 however there is plenty do to and see in the area and the house is very comfortable.
The village has a good supermarket and with 2 Boulangeries within easy walking distance, fresh bread and croissants are always available.
Although there are 3 properties on the site you feel like you are in the middle of paradise - the views from the sitting area are spectacular

I'm almost afraid to say too many nice things about this place as it might not be available next year! What a lovely house and what a great location!! The house itself is lovely, the furniture comfortable, the kitchen more than sufficient and overall just beautiful. The location is great, so private and breathtaking. The garden is quite big and it was a delight to just sit on the large terrace and look out over the fields and the river. The squirrel, watervoles and kingfishers made the feeling of being surrounded by nature complete. All in all it was better than the pictures! The town of Vermenton is nearby and was lovely as well. By car Chablis and Auxerre were also close by. Horse riding is again nearby and the caves are definitely worth a visit! The pool is great and big enough for he four of us.
Dee made us feel very welcome and took great care of us.We love you Dee!!
We certainly want to come again next year!

We arrived at La Tourelle following the directions provided by Cinda. I do have to admit that driving over the narrow iron bridge to get to the property is not for the faint of heart but there is another route to take when coming and going that is far less exciting! The location of this cottage is absolutely perfect, in the countryside alongside a rushing stream and a tranquil mill pond. We really could not believe our eyes it was like stepping into a fairy tale. There is a lovely park next door with rivers and islands and quaint brides and many walking trails. We also walked into Vermenton, not 5 minutes away and in the other direction a nice stroll brings you to another village with a nice restaurant in a wine cellar. We loved our stay here, and although the owner and her children were close by, they were never intrusive and were very helpful. The cottage is well equipped, even with a wine fridge! Furnishing are comfortable and ample for 4. There is a lovely patio at the front of the cottage overlooking the mill pond and we ate supper there a few times. We decided on a BBQ and a bottle of good French wine one evening and my man surprised me with a proposal and an engagement ring he brought all the way from Canada. This will always be a special place for us and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet get away in the country. The area has lots to see and do if you are so inclined.

Where do I start.. from the moment we pulled up to the moment we left we were in awe of this place. It was everything we hoped it would be and more for our stay in France. The home was perfect for my mum and I with the two bedrooms upstairs. The cottage La Tourelle was set in its own private space with huge patio overlooking the pond. Out the kitchen window, which is set in the round tower, you can see the beautiful pool and pond water, the most perfect view when making our coffee in the morning. The place is spotless and has everything you need to cook dinners or bake, if that is what you would wish to do. We didn't :) There was a lovely sitting room in the top part of the tower, off the double bedroom - it was the perfect spot to relax at night with a book or your iPad and a glass of wine :)
The location was wonderful as well. Every day we would get in our car and explore one of the many villages near by. We went to Chablis (which is the most beautiful town) to the open air market on Sunday. We drove to Vezelay (another gorgeous village) and saw the Basilica of Mary Magdalene. We explored Auxerre, Accolay, Noyers and Flavigny sur Ozerain (where Chocolat was filmed) and other little towns not to far from Vermenton. The countryside of Bourgogne is the most beautiful I have ever seen (and I am from Ireland) and the people even nicer. Even though the language was a challenge some times, everyone was very patient and helpful. We came at low season and it proved to be challenging as a lot of places were still not open for the tourist season. But I am very glad to have experienced this area, more as a local than a tourist. The towns were quieter and we mingled with the locals I think pretty well :)
Cinda, the owner, is English speaking and was wonderful and was there when ever we needed anything or had a question. I can't thank her and her family enough, for opening up their property for rent. We would not have had the same experience in a hotel. Staying at La Tourelle, was like a home away from home.
The village Vermenton is only a 10 minute walk away, with a great supermarket, boulangerie, and bank.. plus gas/petrol station there as well. everything you needed, in this most beautiful old village. For our first visit to France, and Bourgogne, this could not have been any better than I could have wished for. Thank you Cinda! We have been raving about your place to all our family and friends!! Wish I could be back there right now! :)
