CHAKRA LIVING – UBUD My first experience in Bali was made truly special by the warmth, care, and soulful hospitality at Chakra Living. From the moment I confirmed my booking through Booking.com, I felt genuinely looked after. While airport transfers are not included, daily breakfast and fresh young coconut are incredibly nourishing and thoughtful touch that sets the tone for the entire stay. One of the highlights was how effortlessly the team arranged transport for me to visit the places I wanted to explore. Nothing felt rushed or transactional; every request was met with kindness and ease, allowing me to fully relax and immerse myself in the experience of Ubud. The staff are exceptional, warm, attentive, and sincerely invested in ensuring guests feel comfortable and cared for. Their energy and presence add to the peaceful, spiritual atmosphere of the property. Chakra Living itself is calm, beautifully maintained, and filled with a grounding, serene energy. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with all essential comforts including air conditioning, quality toiletries, minibar, tea and coffee facilities, and a mini fridge. This is not a large commercial luxury chain, but rather a refined, soulful retreat offering simplicity, comfort, and authenticity. The location is outstanding right in the heart of Ubud, yet wonderfully quiet. Traditional music from the nearby palace drifts through the evenings, and if you’re back by around 7:30 pm, you can even watch the Kecak dance from the restaurant balcony while enjoying a fresh coconut, or easily walk across to experience it in person. While Ubud offers endless activities and exploration, Chakra Living is also a beautiful place to slow down, rest, and reconnect. Accommodation and service: 10/10. Pleasant stay . Good value for money.

Location was great everything at you door step

Very steep steps to enter property if your a little older it proves difficulty . Very hard to get suitcases up them. The pool was a little unclean … leaves were acceptable however a good filter system would help keep it clean. The steps to walk into the shallow end of the pool were stoney steps which were very painful under my feet. The toilet in the room had no privacy. Breakfast was ok.

Beautiful welcome drink on arrival The room was beautiful and roomy with outside verandah over looking pool great fresh food for breakfast good choice pool was refreshing the sitting area was great you can see the water garden next door and market on the street was busy and lively excellent location lots of different places to eat would definitely stay again the staff were great who arranged drop of to airport.

The bath leaked which was very disappointing no TV only netflix which wouldn't except my international which was annoying

Spiritual replenishment

The location was good. The kindness, helpfulness and flexibility of the staff are outstanding. The breakfasts are very delicious. We had a very cozy room and the image of the complex also contributes to the Balinese atmosphere.

Chakra living Ubud

I like the hotel location which is at the centre of Ubud, besides Saraswati temple, eateries near by, market, and shops all within the vicity. The room is nicely decorated clean and have all the amenities. I just love the semi- open toilet which allows quick drying of the place and rid of smell fast. The balcony is another area i love. It allowed me to sit outside to meditate in the morning. The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. A true Balinese hospitality. Thank you for Maki, De Sudi and Agung for attending to me during my stay.

Air con wasn’t working properly, the room was super hot, Then no running water the next day. Have tried to message booking.com as we left after one night. And had to find another hotel. Moldy ceiling. Stained sheets. And face cloths were covered in brown makeup stains. So are out of pocket hundreds of dollars

Wonderful

This lovely compound style hotel was spacious and a beautiful retreat from the hustle and bustle of central Ubud. Situated in a busy market side street just of the mail drag, up a stone staircase and onto another planet. Calm and serene with old Balinese style buildings around a beautiful central swimming pool. The management and staff were absolutely fabulous, especially our good friend and driver/guide Guru who taught us a grreat deal about the local culture and took us on a great full day tour of the area. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them.

The only minor gripe was the lack of a wardrobe and drawers for clothing as we lived out of our suitcases for the entire stay. The room was exactly as shown on the Booking.com photos but could benefit by having more clothing space to safe rooting through suitcases for everything.

Overall Very nice and better than others in same price range

Wont go into too much detail but the room we got when first arrived was not suitable so they moved us to next door straight away so awesome job by staff. For what you pay, the breakfast could be better than it was, the Mie Goreng and Nasi Goreng were not up to par with Ubud though the Avocado toast and egg was pretty nice. the Hotel only has 6 rooms so very private though noise does travel. Location was just amazing. so much to do and see and everyday was adventurous. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

I loved loved loved staying at Chakra living! The staff were exceptional beyond words. The room was spacious extremely clean and had an amazing view in addition to being right in the middle of the market temples and restaurants. Although the streets were always busy but you couldnt hear a thing from the room. They set my bali stay off to a great start. Id choose to stay there again and again if i ever come to bali again. Excellent location - just beware the smell

Excellent location with views of the water palace from the terrace where breakfast is served (just be aware it’s difficult for drivers to stop for too long when arriving/departing). Staff all extremely friendly and helpful, particularly the lady at breakfast. Big rooms with an open bathroom (large curtains separating but it is definitely not a private bathroom). Bathroom facilities in great condition. Extremely comfortable bed, mini bar with good prices, filter coffee machine, smart TV and air con which worked well. Breakfast consisted of local fruit, a fruit platter, coffee/tea and fresh juice, and then a choice of main option (they have French toast, eggs, local dishes etc). Breakfast was a good standard overall.

The smell in the room - they use the traditional mothballs in the room and they have a horrendous smell that just will not go away. I removed one of them and despite buying air fresheners the smell would not budge/got into my clothes. This was a big downside to what would be outstanding little hotel. The toilet needed a better clean as well, but both issues are easy fixes for the hotel so hopefully they will resolve. The public toilets need some refurbishment as they are not in good order. You can go back to your room, but would just be nice to have some nicer toilets to use without needing to unlock the room.

We literally coming out of the hotel and we were in a market and yet it was so peaceful ! Definitely I m returning back to Chakra living !!

A beautiful and peaceful oasis, ideal for enjoying the many delights Ubud offers

I have just spent 8 nights at Chakra Living Ubud, along with my sister and elderly mother. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our visit was relaxing and easy - especially with accommodating my mother who has Parkinson's Disease and is very frail. My sister and I were able to go out of the hotel and relax, while knowing the staff would keep an eye out for my mother - it meant we ALL got to enjoy the holiday at our own pace. The hotel itself is ideally located, right in the middle of Ubud. There are just 6 rooms, which means the hotel is quiet and with us using 3 rooms, it was almost like having a private oasis in the town! My room was on the upper floor - very comfortable twin beds, beautifully appointed bathroom (part of which was outdoors - this is the only room with that configuration) and a lovely balcony with views of the surrounding Royal Palace and Temple complexes. Due to how I had booked the rooms, as a group we ended up using 4 of the 6 rooms during our stay (this was as expected and was not a mistake on the part of the hotel or staff). The other room we used on the upper floor was equally well appointed, but the ground floor rooms are definitely the cream of the crop - beautifully large rooms, with a huge bathroom area including large stone bath and spacious shower / wet room area. The private terraces at the front look out over the pool area (we made good use of the pool every day). Breakfast (which is included in the price) was excellent - fruit platter, choice of eggs, smoothie, or banana pancakes for a main plus the usual tea or coffee and a choice of fruit juice. This was served in the restaurant area over looking the street below (there are steps up to the hotel), so you get to be a part of the hustle and bustle without being right in it. Rooms are cleaned daily and the whole hotel is pristine. I can't wait to go back (and I know my sister thinks the same)!

Limited space meant there is no room for sun beds so it’s not as easy to just relax in the sun / shade , albeit there are chairs close to the pool it’s nice to be able to lie down if staying for more than just a few days . It wouldn’t however stop us staying again

Everything about this small boutique hotel is wonderful . Staff are amazing and extremely helpful with whatever needs you want . The rooms are beautiful and unbelievably clean with a beautiful big bath to relax. Bed is massive and the pillows are fabulous.. Definitely recommended if you want to be right in the village.

The only small issue is the stairs as both entrees are steep to get up for older people .

Living the centre of Ubud on neighborhood of Lotus Temple

The general athmosphare was very nice. Reception people are very helpful. Nice rooms. The first night there was lighted incense in the balcony which was very nice!

The first days breakfast was not enough and we bought additonally Oak Meals. Have never done it before, that I need to buy additional food for breakfast in hotel. After two breakfast, they changed manu and made Balinese noodles for breakfast which was very good and enough. Accomodation in the second floor was a little bit too noisy but the first was fine.

The property was pleasant and in a convenient location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They catered to my gluten free diet and assisted with getting taxis when requested.

The bathroom in my room was very outdated. The toilet didn’t flush. I had a leak from under the sink and when the guys tried to fix it water flooded everywhere throughout the whole room. I had to be moved next door. The bath was stained and looked dirty. On the first two nights the lights were turning on and off every ten minutes. This was rather off putting when standing in the dark in the shower! The pool was dirty and I didn’t see it cleaned ever in the six nights we were there.
