Percy Cottages No4

Comfortable cottage on the main street of Alnmouth. Newly fitted kitchen which was very well equipped. Comfortable furniture. Good to have a downstairs toilet. Very clean and spacious with three bedrooms. Great location, with pubs, restaurants, gift shop, post office and deli all nearby. Very close to the beach.

Some of the decor and fittings were a bit dated. The hearth rug could have done with replacing as it looked a bit grubby, but maybe that's because there was a log burner, which we didn't use. The downstairs carpet could do with either a deep clean as it was stained in places, or being replaced. The cork walls in the hallway were a bit of a surprise. The wardrobes in the master bedroom had quite s lot of the owner's stuff in them. As we didn't use one of the three bedrooms I borrowed one of the wooden portable wardrobe things and used that instead which was fine. Watch out for the narrow door and step down into the bathroom. Parking was a problem sometimes as the town got very busy. Luckily we managed to load and unload on the double yellow lines just down the road before moving the car.

We loved the location - so near to the beach. The kitchen was lovely and new and well equipped. The cottage felt spacious and had been cleaned well.

The double bed in the main bedroom definitely needs replacing as the mattress is saggy and lumpy - not good for back pain! The only other comment would be that the cream carpet downstairs is quite badly marked - thus is not surprising for such a light coloured carpet in a holiday rental!
