Location great , really good pub and staff exceptional, nice food too

The beds , two pushed together , i think a little old , one of them a bit lumpy,and the bathroom was freezing , even with the heated towel rail on , which I had to look for the switch to turn on.

Great traditional spot in the heart of a lovely place

Great single room with extra hall space. No breakfast on property but croissant and jam providing. Lovely traditional pub with real fire downstairs. Super kind and friendly staff allowed me to check in early.

A good place to stay in Alnmouth

This is a great place to stay in Alnmouth. The locals recommend it, which is always a good sign. The inn has character, which is reflected in the room. Everything was clean and proper, as expected. I was here to visit family, so didn't spend too much time in the pub itself. Alnmouth is bracing: you don't come here for gentle tropical breezes, you come here to be bought alive by the weather ... and maybe to play on one of the world's oldest golf courses. The room was perfect for the place.

Great place to stay!

Cleanliness of room. Comfortable bed. Lots of space. Great shower. Location in centre of village and a few minutes walk to beach. Friendly people. Felt comfortable alone in bar and enjoyed Sunday lucn.

Wry comfortable and good value. As a single traveller on this occasion the room I had was very good and better than most in similar hostelries. A warm welcome from the staff too.

A happy time.

I had my own breakfast. The bed was very comfy and the place was quiet.

I didn't like the plastic flowers on the windowsill, they were not in keeping with the decor or the beautiful window box full of natural flowers.

Central location in the Village

Damp Smell, Windows difficult to open, general poor decorative condition of the room, low shower pressure, uncomfortable bed, continental breakfast was 2 pre packed cheap croissants and some orange juice. Plates and cups dirty. Poor value for money. Stains on carpets. No senior member of staff to complain too. Very dated and tired building.

Very comfortable and good value for money

Very comfortable room and really helpful friendly staff. Also it was a room only without breakfast but there was a fridge in the room with croissant, jam, butter and orange juice for us to have a simple breakfast in the room anyway.

Very difficult to find parking near the Sun Inn.

The staff were lovely, location excellent.

The room needs updating and decorating. The carpet is worn out and dirty. The room is quite small so there was nowhere to put a suitcase. The furniture is unsuitable for the room and made it cramped-eg the bedside table was in front of the wardrobe door so it is hard to store and retrieve clothes.

Nice pub with nice rooms in a beautiful Northumberland village

Right in the middle of the village, which was good. Rooms are small, but comfy enough. Bikes stored down some steep steps in the cellar/back kitchen area so that was secure. Good beers at the bar and nice staff. They seemed disappointed that we went over the road for dinner (the Italian - brilliant, by the way) having thought we had booked in, but hadn't. They don't serve breakfast, which caught us out, but there is a good place 50 yards along the street, which was pricey but nice enough.

Fully understand the reasoning for not offering a cooked breakfast for such a small number of rooms. However, I do think the breakfast provided could have been better value as the property was marketed as ‘including breakfast’. With a fridge in the room it would be fairly easy to provide a granola yoghurt for example. Croissants and jam not of a particularly high quality.

Great place in a lovely old village

Great little clean room in a histoiric hotel in this lovely village. It's also good to have a bar and food "on-site". The people were great, and helped us by storing our bags, and also calling a taxi when our phone didn't work - thanks! Nearby Alnwick with the Harry Potter castle and Barter Books and the Poison Garden was a great place to visit if you have the time.

Note that while the hotel is really central in the village, it is still a 15 min walk from the station, and the busses are spotty. Similarly, to Alnwick and its Harry Potter castle it is a 15 min bus ride, but the timings of the bus can be difficult if you are pressed for time (we had a train to catch so used a taxi to come back).

Good value stopover in a beautiful place

V friendly staff and fabulous location. Fantastic hot power shower - I took the single room at the back of the pub and the bathroom was probably bigger than the bedroom! Good value for the price - I went next door to The Whittling House for a v good value breakfast too. NB Thursday night is a packed quiz night and no evening food but there a few other options for an evening meal.

The small single room felt just a little unloved, the mattress was super comfortable but the headboard was broken and squeaky which would surely be an east fix. Also the bathroom was pristinely clean but the bedroom carpet was thick pile and perhaps could do with a really thorough brush and/ or better hoover. I only noticed because I had to scrabble around on the floor to find a dropped earring.

The staff were lovely!! Friendly, cheery and eager to please. The food was lovely . Comfort food , well cooked. Good location. Great atmosphere in the pub with friendly locals to chat to.

The breakfast didn't go anywhere close to my expectation of a continental breakfast. Poor. I prefer a cooked breakfast but decent continental with fresh produce acceptable. This was not fresh. Long life orange and pre wrapped croissants.No chairs in room! For the money I expect to retreat to a seat! Dampness evident and paint peeling. Bed comfy but room tired.
