Great Staff, amazing views, fantastic food

The staff are incredibly friendly and the restaurant is amazing. The rooms are basic but very comfy beds and the family rooms are excellent value. Nothing beats being up the mountain once everyone has left or watching the sunrise from your room

Beautiful views and warm service!

Berghaus Männlichen is something that you have to experience. A wonderful view of the mountains from your room. Hiking routes starting right outside your door. Amazing service by warm people who care. We really enjoyed our stay at Berghaus Männlichen. A few tips: Keep in mind the cable car schedules to make sure you get up there before it closes. There is a cafeteria and a restaurant as part of the hotel, they already made a dinner reservation at the restaurant for us, which was great!

An unforgettable stay at the top of the mountain!

Visited during August. The location is very unique, mind blowing Mountain views all around, and a great playground for children. After 17:30 once all the tourists leave and the gondola closes, you have the mountain and playground to yourself. Good breakfast and fairly priced dinner menu. Bear in mind the cost of getting to and from the hotel by gondola. Room was basic (yet clean) and was too small for a family of 4. Some staff members seem to be friendly during breakfast and dinner time only. Any request outside of the set meal times is often met with surprise and commentary (typical to Switzerland in general unless you stay in high end hotels with higher service awareness). This is just for awareness - the location and views are worth it!!

The view!!! When the crowds left at 5:30–the quiet and majestic place is all yours. It was just the 15 of us staying overnight and the cows 😊 In the morning I walked at sunrise to the Royal walk for a full panoramic and it was incredible. Just me and the cows!!

Memorable!

The view from the room is breathtaking. Throughout the evening and night, I was constantly looking through the window to admire the scenery. The food en breakfast was good, and the personal was very kind. Definitely one of the most scenic and memorable stays we ever had.

There is nothing we would change. While the alpine cows are cute, the bells around their neck were sounding all night when they were roaming around the area. So, when sleeping with the windows open, be prepared for a nightlong concert.

Beautiful place and hotel

Excellent sunset and sunrise spots, quite after cable car stop running after 5-6pm, you could have the moutain all by yourself. Very beautiful mountains, very relaxing, various levels of hiking available. The croissant is excellent. Breakfast is good.

The senior female at the reception doesn’t really make guest feel very welcoming; not sure she is racist.

One of the finest locations I have ever stayed in!

extraordinary location on a high ridge with a wonderful view of both the north face of the Eiger and the Jungfrau. Best of all, at 5.30 when the last cable car went down, we were left in utter peace and solitude. Good walks (although sadly the Panorama was closed due to snow and unstable rocks), but the main event was sitting on the tussocks and taking in the amazing view. Everytime we looked up, we could not believe it. Also the staff were excellent and friendly, food was good, room simple but comfortable.

Very grateful for such a memorable experience.

Staying in the only hotel in an iconic location has its advantages and disadvantages. Overall our stay was fantastic. Amazing views, comfortable room, friendly staff. There was a folk festival going on the day we were there so it was hard to have any down time during the afternoon as the music and clapping went on in a continuous loop that day. Overall, a minor inconvenience. Dinner was good and we were pleasantly surprised that it was not overpriced for the region. Thanks for that! Also, the greens they use in the salads are very fresh and locally grown.

Very basic accommodation but consider carefully what you want from your stay

The staff were all wonderful and friendly. You get to experience the mountain after everyone has left and it really is silent up there at night. Very clean. Handy place to stay if perhaps you want a very early morning hike starting from Mannlichen or ending there late.

Extremely basic inside, was giving me youth hostel vibes. Quite shocked for the price that it was so basic. Needs TLC for some stains on walls and cracks. Views can be achieved by just visiting the mountain during opening times and we didn’t get a great view out of the window (unless you love looking at the cable car station and play park) to be honest so we would rather have not stayed for the views only. Both transport options - unless hiking up to the top - are expensive and that adds to your costs. Remember too, you are limited on time as you must be up before the last cable car. We also regretted how this then dictated what we could do that day after we started our trip. Breakfast the most basic of what we experienced on our trip. For the price, aside from the kind staff, we would absolutely not pay to stay here again.

Exceptional

It was incredible, one of the most memorable moments in our stay in Switzerland. After all the hikers and passers are gone(since cable car stops slightly before 5pm), entire mountain range became like a private place for us. There's panoramic view of all the peaks Eiger/Monch/Jungfrau, BEST playground in the region - they even got a humongous slide that look like a cow! Definitely staying here few more days with my kids next time.

Love it! Best place to stay when visiting the Alps !

We loved loved loved our stay here!! Such a cozy cabin feel. Rooms were very clean. The staff was super nice and attentive. Very kid friendly place. The breakfast is delicious !! Best eggs I have ever eaten at any hotel and their cappuccino is outstanding ! The dining areas are very inviting and have a homey feel. And my kids really enjoyed the small selection of toys available in the breakfast room. The room cleaning service is superb ! I was truly impressed with how neat they left everything in our room. They go above and beyond what is to be reasonably expected! The staff also offered to help carry luggage up to our room which was very kind ! The playground outside of the hotel is amazing and nothing beats the views of the mountains and the personal experience you get with the highland cattle ! It was a visit I will never forget !

If you choose this hotel, be mindful that the last cable car ride up to the mountain is at 5:10 pm!! If you don’t know this, you could easily be in Wengen or Grindewald til the following morning when the cable cars start running again! Also, there are no grocery shops where this hotel is located, so you will need to bring your own snacks and drinks or be ready to purchase whatever the hotel offers, which can be pricey. I also really wish this hotel had microwaves and mini fridges in the room.

Dinner food - very weak selection, all with fries, nothing interesting, nothing Swiss except for cheese and meats plate, not even a rosti. Things on the website menu that are not available on the menu in the restaurant. Disappointment.
