The only minor criticism I have is that breakfast wasn't served until 7.30am which I think is quite late. Also you have to order breakfast from the bar rather than table service. Otherwise, nice hotel and I would definitely stay there again.

Breakfast had good options, room was clean and cozy. The beer garden and surroundings were enjoyable.and the area felt.safe while being central enough.

Great location for exploring Durham. Lovely pub - evening meal excellent. Full English breakfast was very small (1 spoon of beans, 1 sausage etc - and ask in advance for your bacon not to be overcooked, as my one small piece was like shoe leather). Staff friendly but sticklers for the after 3 pm only rule for signing in. Despite those minor quibbles it's a great stay. Comfy beds, clean rooms and within walking distance for everything.

We arrived early and staff were helpful in explaining how walk into Durham. The hotel was nice and had a good sized car park, all was clean and tidy, we had a nice quiet room at the back. There was a good selection of beers at the bar. Because of the hot weather we weren't too hungry in the evening but chose a selection of small plates after a dish of mussels for me and a prawn cocktail for my wife. The mussels were the only disappointment of the stay, they were tiny and I had several empty shells with no spare mussels in the bottom!!! We both enjoyed a good breakfast the following morning, which was freshly made from a good choice on the menu. All in all a very pleasant stay and a place I would happily visit again. For dog owners, you can take your dog but not into the restaurant section.
