I always stay here when visiting Co Durham and it always provides an excellent stay. The staff are friendly, professional and very helpful in accommodating my requests. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the restaurant serves good food with a wide range of options, including the breakfast menu. I highly recommend this hotel.

Perfect location to pick up my daughter from university; dog friendly rooms and lovely walks from the property. Very friendly staff.

We had stayed here several years ago, before the current ownership. The location is convenient for where we wanted to go and there are lovely walks on the doorstep. Dog friendly and good parking. We particularly like the ground floor motel style rooms which are very convenient with dogs. Clean and comfy with good bed, large TV and a good shower. Staff are very friendly and the restaurant food was good and reasonable value, although the portion size of the sea bass was very small.
The rooms are a bit tired and tatty and could do with refurbishment, but everything worked ok. The coffee machine in the bar was not working on the Sunday night. The supplement for dogs - £7.50 per dog per night - is a bit expensive.
