A beautiful gem of a hotel situated on Mt. Varese, quiet and with an impeccable view of the surroundings. A great destination for a little getaway. The building itself is old, but charming and well-kept. Our room extended across two floors, with the bedroom on the bottom and the bathroom (with a shower cell, toilet and bidet) upstairs. The bedroom led out on a large balcony, providing a remarkable view of the mountainside and the lake. The room was clean and tidy. We went in august and the weather was very hot, with temperatures staying high at night. The rooms have no air-conditioning, which might be an issue for some people. We had dinner at the restaurant twice and enjoyed it both times, with good food and very fresh ingredients - remarkably so, considering the rather remote location. My vegetarian partner was accomodated nicely, without prior notice from us, which is always appreciated. The staff was always attentive, calm and nice. We very much enjoyed our stay and will gladly return!

the hotel was about a 8/10 but the service was excellent and the balcony view and space really made the stay. on the Monday night the restaurant was closed so we got ham, cheese, wine, bread etc., from a supermarket and ate al fresco on the balcony, which was wonderful The following evening we ate in the restaurant which was great and they catered for my gluten free requirement. We were treated to an amazing storm so we were able to sit on the balcony and watch - which was totally awesome. The parking was a bit tricky. 3 spaces downstairs and maybe 8 upstairs but a bit tight and you'll need to park up the way and walk down if you arrive much past 7 I would say.

We stopped at Hotel Colonne for the World Championship bicycle race in Varese. We had an accident in the hire car and Silvio owner / chef looked after the problem allowing us to prepare a bicycle for one of the Great Britain team riders.Silvios food and hospitality is also World class along with a selection of fine wines.

Hidden gem near the top of a mountain. Spectacular view from our room overlooking the lake. Rooms are beautifully decorated and the attention to detail is flawles. Food is excellently prepared and is delicious.

We were a group of four persons, cousins staying in two rooms. The hotel staff were very friendly and most kind. I'm afraid the meals were not so exceptional as made out to be but, on the whole, our stay could be considered quite enjoyable.

Beautiful room opening to a private balcony overlooking the town and a lemon tree. One suggestion would be to arrive in the daylight. Navigation to this hotel is very tricky!

Super hotel, very good value for money, super staff, but did not meet the owner, who I think could have introduced himself to my wife and I. Area is stunning, with lots of walks etc. Only problem is the Wifi, or lack of it. There is supposed to be a connection!!Breakfast was adequate but limited, but at least there was English breakfast tea. We stayed in room 4, which was lovely, very comfy bed and good sitting areas. Bathroom good. Amazing views from balcony

Area is stunning, with lots of walks etc. Only problem is the Wifi, or lack of it. There is supposed to be a connection!! Our stay at Hotel Colonne exceeded our expectations, the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner and staff were delightful. The view was outstanding and our walk around the close by small village was lovely. Last but not least the quality of the food, sublime .....My husband and I have been traveling around Italy for a month now and this small hotel has been the highlight so far ..... this will definitely be part of out next trip, however we will stay longer next time.

Wow, what an amazing place. At the end of a 5 day bike ride, the hill up to the Motel being a bit of a challenge, to say the least, but, boy was it worth the ride! Silvio, you and you staff, especially your mother, are amazing. Our room was absolutely delightful, our afternoon on the terrace celebrating our ride, was amazing and to top off our stay, the breakfasts, I'm sure my husband eat you out of the "homemade" cheese! I could go on and on, but, thankyou. You are a star in Italy's eyes. Love from Jen and Mark Australia
