The restaurant for evening meals was great. Really good food. The breakfast buffet could have had a bit more choice but was adequate

With an ecclectic, grandeur interior and period hunting lodge exterior, the Belstead Brook hotel is truly one of a kind and thats why we love it. The very clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff makes our stays all the more enjoyable.

Pool shut early not advertised, Autistic son went into a melt down as we booked for the pool which we couldn’t use that night! Three pillows to a room booked for 4 people, single duvet on the sofa bed that was two people to sleep in. Stayed many times never had an experience like it,

Lovely staff, room, spa, dinner, and breakfast except the scrambled eggs which were very unappealing! Only gripe is we were unable to book a spa break at the last minute so were charged £15 to borrow robes for the spa!!!

The plus side: Plenty of parking (car park extends around the building so deceptively large) Friendly and obliging staff Nice decor - Christmas decs were up, it looked very pretty Good breakfast choice Single bed was almost a double The bad side: Clunky, outdated equipment in gym Changing rooms not great, dingy and a bit run down Spa wasn't as impressive as the photos suggest Noisy plumbing. Next door ran their shower (I think) and there was a loud groaning noise in my room - at 6am! No chain on the door The very worst thing was the APPALLING smell in the bathroom. I noticed it on arrival but it wasn't that strong. When I got back from the spa and gym it was much worse, in the morning it was really disgusting - a mix of sewage and rotten onions! I couldn't bear to be in there for more than a minute, so I couldn't have more than a quick wash and hastily clean my teeth, dashing back into the room when it got too much. It was so bad I actually felt sick when I had to use the loo. I hadn't been able to book any treatments so planned on doing a face pack and hair mask in my room and brought some products with me for this, but because I couldn't use the bathroom this wasn't possible. I couldn't even shower in the morning, it was so bad. Luckily I only live 30 mins away. I was hoping this would be my new 'haven of peace' once a month or so but I won't be back. I reported it to the staff when I checked out. They apologised but didn't offer any refund, just said they'd report it.

Staff and room were as normal but the restaurant was a let down this occasion. 2 people sent their food back , the roast came out for 2 other tables with no yorkshire puddings which had to be bought out after . Then our food arrived with half the veg missing which had to be bought out separately too . There wete hardley any staff working. Very disappointed.

lovely staff, excellent food, warm and friendly hotel. Had a lovely relaxing afternoon and evening. Let down by thin walls and noisy inconsiderate bedroom neighbours awake all hours so we barely slept. Would love to come back and hopefully have a better night's sleep.

Nice size room for three friends. Plenty of tea and coffee sachets in the room and nice soft towels. Didn’t get a chance to use the spa facilities but will definitely return to experience the pool area. Thought the food and drink prices were very reasonable.

Room comfortable and quiet no aircon and very warm so kept window open. Reception friendly and efficient. Swimming pool area very good - cushions on loungers getting a little tired. Restaurant excellent service and food. Coping with large groups in other rooms didn't affect service. Breakfast area well stocked. Only complaint was one of the staff in the breakfast area taking fruit from the plates with his fingers - several times for his own breakfast.

No hot water in shower in the morning after first night’s stay and TV wasn’t working. Reception said these had been addressed when I returned for second night, but TV still not working. Some, but not much, hot water next morning. Otherwise, clean room and helpful staff with good service. Didn’t have breakfast. Only one dinner, which was good. Didn’t use the Spa.

We didnt use the spa this time. The spa needs some new loungers. So that put us off using i The room we stayed in was a club room very tired furniture that needs up dating. A strong smell of sewage in the bathroom Noisy early hours of the morning

Very poor offering at breakfast for the 3 nights I stayed this week and 2 days last week. Cold buffet was 3 types of melon , 1 bowl of Greek yogurt 2 mornings no million cereal , had to ask , 3rd morning milk not on the cold plate . Coffee machine no milk first morning . Juice not chilled . No croissants morning 2 Hot buffet - sausages burnt . Very poor offering . Tables not cleared at any point . Had to ask for cups on the table to get coffee . 3-5 staff on most mornings with no guidance . Not a great experience for £135 per night . Will not use in the near future

We really liked the Spa, we only slept one night and it was a quiet place and the decor with antique furniture was very beautiful. I highly recommend it.

A one night stay for a meeting nearby and would happily stay here again. Nice friendly staff, clean, decent food. If I was being picky the pool a touch on the small side once a few people are swimming, and eating in the bar area it felt a little empty of atmosphere. Overall great and look forward to a return

Bathroom was not clean. The toilet was dirty. Room wise it was ok, the bed was comfortable. No fridge in the room which is a shame

Friendly and helpful staff, nice hotel and room

A decent hotel but nothing special. My standard room had a musty drainage type smell, windows could not be opened. Bathroom was the best quality of the room. Breakfast at £15.95 for one over priced in my opinion. Spa and Pool area was reasonably nice, towels provided.

The experience at Muthu was great. Staff were very courteous as well as accommodating. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna were great too. I liked the vibe of the place and the entrance is really grand. Gives a classy look without the expensive price tag.

The spa facilities were really great and created a great opportunity for the family to spend time together. Really appreciated the hotel faciltating our family of 4 to stay in a junior suite even though we were 4. The room was clean and spacious and was a real break for us! Only thing was breakfast wasa bit expensive for us as it the resaurant seemed to be managed separately. All in all really lovely!
