Villa Idalina is a unique & romantic experience with personalized service provided by the owners, Susan & her husband. A beautiful 1911 mansion filled with furnishings and artwork original to the house which is surrounded by beautiful gardens that include fruit trees, flowers, a built-in pool, greenhouse, walking paths and plenty of seating areas. We only left the property to walk along the river that empties into the ocean. Susan is an excellent cook who put together a delicious cold dinner/charcuterie board which we picked up in the spacious wine cellar and had our choice of balconies & patios to enjoy our meal. Breakfast included cakes, breads, cookies, and quiches Susan made herself. Susan also sells homemade crafts & clothing on the grounds. (I bought some perfumed soap!) The house has beautiful views of Caminha and the River Lima throughout. We look forward to returning and highly recommend Palacete Villa Idalina to anyone looking for a very special & memorable place to stay.
We stayed during a heatwave and it would have been nice if our room had had some air conditioning or a fan and screens on the windows. (The cross breezes were wonderful.)

Charming hotel and grounds. Room was super comfy, staff friendly and accommodating and breakfast delicious! The house/hotel itself is one of the most beautiful places Ive ever seen!! The grounds are relaxing and include swimming pool!!! Highly recommend this place.

The house is beautiful and so lovingly preserved. The woodwork, decor, all the rooms contain original handcrafted masterpieces which are incredible. The bonus is that the guests live there as if it is our home. The gardens are an oasis of tranquility and beauty. The owners and the staff are all lovely and so welcoming and helpful. Delicious and very ample breakfast, and places to enjoy your own picnic or they will order in for you. All of it is just delightful, and the perfect escape to another world full of charm, comfort and gentility.
